After several years in the making, a few months of intense preparation, and a few days of feverish accrochage, yesterday was the long-awaited vernissage of the Publik-Privat exhibition by Bilbo Calvez.
The numerous visitors had the possibility to wander through the installation, and thus confront themselves face-to-face with the 62 portraits displayed, turning around the 31 portraits forming the “Publik” side on one way, and the 31 portraits shaping the “Privat” side on the other way. Please refer to this previous post for a detailled explaination of the procédé used in this photographic series.
The exhibition catalogue was also released yesterday and visitors could have it autographed as most of the portrayed personalities had made it to the vernissage and were usually seen in close range from their own portrait.
The catalogue as well as the photographic diptychs (each pair in an edition of 5 – 45 cm x 45 cm) are for sale in the gallery and will soon be available online in the artworks section of the Urban Spree website.
The exhibition runs until April 13th, 2013. Geöffnet Dienstag bis Samstag 12:00 – 18:00.
