Urban Spree Galerie presents: “Everything Amazing – Nobody Happy”, a solo show by Julia Benz.
Julia Benz (b.1985 in Wittlich) is a young Berlin-based painter trained at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
Using a highly colored palette, her painting style range from figurative to conceptual art, with works mainly on canvases and some inroads into street art. Having exhibited in Cologne or Hamburg, the german artist is now having a solo show at the Urban Spree Galerie in her new hometown of Berlin.
The exhibition is organized around an enigmatic Triptychon. The 3 canvases measure 600 cm x 240 cm. Traces of figuration and geometric patterns (triangles, circles) are slowly subsiding, recessing into an inorganic state, albeit highly coloured, letting the viewer slowly sliding into oblivion.
“Everything Amazing – Nobody Happy” will open on November 29th, 2013 in the Galerie and run until Dec. 21st.
The whole painting process is currently being documented by the team Editude Pictures and will culminate into a short movie of about 15 minutes.
Vernissage: Friday November 29th from 19:00 in the presence of the artist.
DJ Set by Efalive of the Jazoburbs (19:00 / 22:00)
