On Friday August 15th 2014, Urban Spree, Urban Nation, Mobile Kino & W – Doubleyou team up to bring you an exceptional event with the open air projection of Everybody Street, a fascinating documentary on New York City street photography featuring some of Urban Spree’s all-time favorite photographers such as Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Joel Meyerowitz, and legendary graffiti & hip hop photographer Martha Cooper.
If you are familiar with the Urban Spree bookstore concept, you know that our hand-picked selection of photobooks is all about street photography, postindustrial sites, urban decay, street art and the underground… So, when Mobile Kino came with the idea of an outdoor screening of this great documentary about NYC street photographers, we were thrilled with the idea, mostly that the film happily blends the genre between street photography in its documentary/classical way with the street art/graffiti scene.
Both the film director –Cheryl Dunn, and Martha Cooper will be exceptionally present for the screening and thereafter.
Cheryl Dunn, who has been documenting the streets of NYC for over two decades, will address the audience through a Q&A session.
1300 images of Martha Cooper will be projected on different screens in a unique gallery installation.
Martha Cooper’s pioneering book (co-authored with Henry Chalfant), ‘Subway Art’, will be available in the bookshop.
