After Andrea Wan last month at BC Gallery, the winter momentum for our Urban Spree resident artists keeps on rising.
Johannes Mundinger is now having a solo show in Berlin at the Epicentro Art Space in Mitte, opening on 13/02/2015.
Mundinger, a painter and muralist, has been working on a new series of large format paintings since more than a year. This body of work is focused on the concept of metamorphosis, and borrows elements to the western fairytale & magical corpus, from Ovid to the Brothers Grimm.
Inspired by surreal fantasies and symbols and using a highly colorful palette, Johannes Mundinger has been multiplying murals and exhibitions in Germany (Halle, Freiburg) or Lithuania (Vilnius) in the past year around this topic.
In Johannes Mundinger’s paintings, motives are particularly transient, inter layered, while the artist is trying relentlessly to catch the moment where something of a figurative and/or abstract nature can be represented.
