Dark Beats ~ Cold Waves

LIVE
TWINS (That Which Is Not Said), Atlanta -> listen
Leroy Se Meurt, Paris -> listen
Zagrebleu, Leipzig -> listen
DJ:s Enfant Terrible, Neugeborene Nachtmusik and åtåmåtån

TWINS/That Which Is Not Said is Matt Weiner who is also known for his Featureless Ghost project and of course as the head of the DKA Records label. His project TWINS is not limited to one specific style but the dominant characteristic is the synth driven sound. Other influences are various styles of dance music and a healthy dose of arty post-punk.

Leroy Se Meurt from France is a duo with a background in electronics and in punk music and this is very evident in their sound. Old school EBM is fused with fierce elektro. A true punk attitude and energy is always there, sort of in the tradition of Ich Bin. They stay away from the contemporary EBM sound with techno influences. Leroy Se Meurt choose their own stylistic path but with the same impact for the dance floor, or maybe even more impact.

Zagrebleu is a synthpunk duo from Leipzig throwing Wave, EBM, Acid, New Beat in a blender and spice it up with a pinch of Industrial and Hi-NRG.

Dark Beats ~ Cold Waves

LIVE: Roberto Auser and Romance Disaster
DJ: Enfant Terrible and åtåmåtån

ROBERTO AUSER has built a name of his own with releases on Viewlexx, Pinkman and Enfant Terrible. Still he stays something like a best kept secret of the Dutch electronic music scene… this mainly due to his output which is never to be pinned to one specific genre or style… His live sets and his release have recently moved more and more into the direction of harsh pounding beats with a dark mood and industrial sounds… and even a true rave spirit… see you on the dance floor!

ROMANCE DISASTER is a Berlin based “woman-machine” live-act founded by Aga Wilk (former 77TM). The music is a blend between techno and dark electro. On stage, besides vocals, Romance Disaster uses drum machines and synthesizers, frequently changing them to make each performance special. For åtåmåtån she has released the great EP “Girls-Guns” with remixes by Millimetric and Ethan Fawkes, packed with beats, stabs and attitude.

What happens when you put together two label heads with a dark beat obsession? You get a great night of music and one hell of a party. That is what åtåmåtån and Enfant Terrible aim at with their Dark Beats ~ Cold Waves night.

This night by åtåmåtån and Enfant Terrible is a synth drive dance night, modern minded with a healthy tribute to the past, not too much looking backwards but also not moving into too much clubby techno regions, more an 80’s and 90’s vibe but also updated with nowadays dark beats.

Expect a lot of new and old EBM, elektro-wave and new beat influenced sounds. But as it is an open minded night anything with a dark beat could find its way to the floor from acid, and (early/dark) techno to elektro and industrial, as long as it’s fit for the dance floor.

ENFANT TERRIBLE is a Dutch independent record label for music and was founded in 2004. The focus is on electronic / experimental (pop) music in styles such as elektro-wave, (post-)techno and ambient. The Gooiland Elektro is known for putting out off-radar dance music and is loved by
dj’s around the world.

ÅTÅMÅTÅN is a Berlin based synth label, founded by Swedish Ella Moe. She was also part of the FlexiWave label and synth duo Colouroïd. The focus of åtåmåtån is to release limited vinyl editions made with love and a strong visual focus in tribute to the 80’s DIY scene. Hand folded, golden, risograph printed, numbered sleeve art and hand stamped or lettered labels. Sounds stretch from dark dreams to club rage.

Metroidz: Graffiti Group Show Opening & Exhibition

Flyer WebUrban Spree Galerie proudly invites you to the opening of the first show of the 2015 season, “Metroidz”.

After the successful series of hand painted variations on the Teufelsberg print last year, we wanted to launch a new print series focused on subways and graffiti, with a first edition rooted in Berlin.

The choice of the artist responsible for the drawing was cast on French artist Niklos for his capacity to create an original drawing based on a real & imaginary Berlin cityscape with high density backgrounds, sci-fi elements “à la Moebius” and lots of attention to details.

An edition of 40 prints was screen printed by Dolly at her Urban Spree studio in an edition of 2 colors, black and ‘yellow U-Bahn’ on 270 gsm archival paper, in a large 100 x 70 cm format.

Against this backdrop, French photographer Thorfine, curator of the show, has asked 20 Berlin-based & still active graffiti writers to be part of the project and project their art and vision on the print.

The resulting line-up is one of the strongest Berlin has to offer:

Fach – Trik – Spirit – Roza – 1UP Crew – Poet – Fino – Quis – Tour -Shade – Bas2 – Chika – Igid – Inka – Leroy – Roger – Pesd – Eshok -Stereo – Tin

The Metroidz series can be viewed as a historic slice of the Berlin subway graffiti culture of the past decade as well as a strong artistic manifesto for Berlin style writing, in a format never attempted before.

The 20 prints will be presented on Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at the Urban Spree Galerie, with 3 additional A/P prints hand painted by Niklos himself.

Tuesday-Roza-TLS-CTM

Niklos will draw directly on the gallery walls to create an original scenography for the print show.

The regular, 2 color edition print series will also be available at the galerie in a limited run of 20 prints.

Exhibition curated by Thorfine, supported by Montana Cans and The Grifters.
