Night Shift 1st Year Anniversary

𝔉𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔠𝔰 presents: Night Shift

The sun comes down and with it the day shift comes to an end. It is time for the night shift to take over.

Creatures of the night, replicants, angelic faces and spectators hungry for strangeness give themselves to the carefreeness of the 80s in a club turned for a night into a house of the underground.

For its 8th edition, Night Shift celebrates its first anniversary! One year of synthetic hits, dark beats, teased wigs and torn tights!

On the program: LIVE concert, Drag Shows, New Wave, Synthpop, Dark Wave, Goth, Minimal Wave, EBM, Post-Punk, Italo-disco, Retro Wave and Techno!

Bonnie Li -Wǒ Men- ALBUM Release PARTY

Icons Creating Evil Art présents:

Dark Pop / Trip Hop / Electro-Cabaret

On the occasion of the release of her debut album „Wǒ Men“
Bonnie Li will throw her release party at Urban Spree on the 14th of Feb!

„In Mandarin ‘wǒ’ means I-myself, ‘wǒ men’ is translated into we-us, and if you skip the space in between it gives you ‘women’, I wanted to play around with that.“

Written over the course of the last year, ‘Wǒ Men’ was arranged with Elia M Sycomor and produced by regular collaborator Paolo Pizzuto in their new home in Berlin, setting the start of a new evolution for the artist.
With the use of further instrumentation and adopting a more Dark-Pop aesthetic, Bonnie Li sees the release as the start of a new beginning for her, experimenting further and moving away from her trip-hop-inspired origins.
„Wǒ Men“ looks to be a beacon of coveted thoughts, speaking opinions that you know you shouldn’t, channelling insecurity in a search for yourself. It’s organic, dynamic and fragile, distorted as a mirror to the artist’s emotions and fears, sensitive and dark.

Singer/composer & multi-lingual polymath, Bonnie Li has already been praised by the likes of Clash Magazine EARMILK, Rolling Stone Italia and The Line Of Best Fit.

SEE YOU THERE Beautiful Freaks ♥

Dark Buddha Rising + Fuoco Fatuo

Dark Buddha Rising exhales psychedelic black fumes from a parallel dimension. Drones of malevolent waves number the days until total blackness take over.

„As the dust of centuries has settled on pages unwritten, the gates are opened only within.“

This Finnish coven has been spreading aural deformities for over a decade. A new album will soon see the day of light on Neurot Records before the year 2018 comes to an end. Accompanying them along the journey in support of this malevolent artefact is the italian funeral doom/death quartet FUOCO FATUO, who released their second album on Profound Lore Records in 2017.

FUOCO FATUO was born in 2011, in the middle of the ghastly lakes of Varese, Italy. Starting out as an occult and oppressive death/doom band with an eerie and gloomy atmosphere, their debut LP “The Viper Slithers In The Ashes Of What Remains”, which followed several EPs, was an exploration of the darkest and most desolate spaces through a sickened development of sound, making it like a flood of impenetrable black magma.

Their new album “Backwater” is a massive and suffocating funeral doom opus, the distressing awareness of the nothingness, transcending in the oblivion, and feeding on the black void. The relationship between state of mind and nature, the desolation and vast sense of distance are the main themes. An introspective, mournful journey, deeply rooted into the unknown.

Hendrik Czakainski: SWITCH-OVER (verlängert bis 08.12)

ØSC is an ever changing music collective from Denmark and Sweden that play totally on the spot improvised deep trip space rock music. They have released 25 (!!!) records since 2006. Music for your mind to escape the Matrix.
– latest release:
„Chatoyant Breath“ – May 16, 2018
„ØSC had been at the Black Tornado recording back in November but our friend Gary (Yawning Man) was in town and wanted to jam. It had been a long time since the main touring band of ØSC (Nick, Jiri, Mogens, myself) had been in the studio. We grabbed Martin, who plays with Nick, Jiri and Mogens in the Univerzals as well as with Jiri in his band, Fri Galaxe to play drums. He had played quite a few gigs with us in Denmark the last years. Nicklas from Papir, was a great choice to play with Gary as both are fans of each other and we love to play with Nicklas. We had a cool band.
This session was pretty fast, all done in one day and just 5 jams recorded. The vinyl is an edited version of the jams, while the CD features extended versions of the tracks so you can hear more or less the entire course of the musical journey. The music on these sections is more spaced out, relaxed and exploratory as it flows and weaves and grows tentacles to tickle and scratch your inner thoughts. Enjoy the sensations.“ – Dr. Space, 2018

⊙ BLACK MOON CIRCLE ⊙
BMC from Trondheim is dedicated to dark psychedelic space rock, driven by a disposition towards prolonged jams.
– latest release:
„Flowing into the 3rd Dimension“ – August 25, 2017

⊙ MOUNTAIN DUST ⊙
Mountain Dust’s set was a blast of cymbal crashing, headbanging hard rock laced with doom metal and a sensible dosage of psychedelic pretensions. The songs weren’t excuses for aimless guitar wankfests, but slithering heavy jams (the bass player laid hypnotic grooves on his Rickenbacker) that turned in on themselves like a snake eating its tail. Organ à la Deep Purple gave the music a gothic nuance, but the big surprise was lap steel guitar fed through an effects rack.
The band reinvented their blues-metal sound — a genre now as outmoded as bell-bottoms and songs about scoring with underage groupies — with well-crafted riffs that make you forget it’s all the same 4/4 rhythm you’ve heard a million times. They had masterful dynamics and pauses: the music breathed, but it breathed like Godzilla. For four thrashers who look like head shop regulars, Mountain Dust didn’t play a bum note all night.

Big Ups

On May 18th, 2018, Brooklyn’s Big Ups return with their third full-length via Exploding in Sound Records. After forming eight years ago, the band comprised of Brendan Finn (drums), Joe Galarraga (vocals), Amar Lal (guitar), and Carlos Salguero Jr. (bass) continue to tackle dualities in the aptly named Two Parts Together. If 2014’s Eighteen Hours of Static was a brash screed about faith versus science, and 2016’s Before A Million Universes an introspective look at the individual against society, then Two Parts Together lies in the liminal, attempting to make sense of unknowable and basking in uncertainty.

The album’s title track finds vocalist Galarraga searching for meaning in ritual through the examples of a wedding and a funeral. “I just wanted to feel/just how it would be,” he states, hoping for some sort of self-discovery through these human institutions. This emotional inquisition is echoed throughout the album, often in opposition to the omnipresent “lake” mentioned in several songs. What rests below its surface, or bubbles up from the bottom? Throughout Two Parts Together, Big Ups wrestles with the power of mystery both tangibly and metaphysically.

And the band does so often through its signature dynamics. Lal’s biting guitar work is bolstered by Finn’s crashing and Salguero’s booming, and together they can tightly settle into a lull. But Big Ups is not simply employing its old tricks; Two Parts Together sees the quartet utilizing the studio more than ever. Their normal sonic palette has been supplemented with additional strings, harmonium, field recordings, piano, and more. The album is paced through thoughtful instrumentals and interludes, as if to offer the listener a breath of fresh air or – perhaps – a walk around the lake.
