Light Asylum (US / Mexican Summer) / Berlin outdoor summer intimate show
At once brutal and romantic, Light Asylum exists in that space where industrial gives way to goth, where the city meets the outer regions under the cover of night. Calling Shannon Funchess a commanding lead singer is an understatement; there is a heaviness and attack in her vocal delivery that is downright sinister. This is contemporary synth pop to a tee that comes to life during their revered live performances.

Zum vierten Mal öffnet Urban Spree seine Tore für das legendäre Berlin Seafood Festival am 26. und 27. Mai 2018.
Das Berlin Seafood Festival ist ein kulinarisches Zusammentreffen aus frischen und geräucherten Meeresfrüchten mit dem besten Streetfood, das Berlin zu bieten hat.
Kreiere einen eigenen Meeresfrüchte Teller, genieße gegrillten Fisch, frische Austern aus der Nordsee, Muscheln und Fritten nach original belgischem Rezept und noch viele andere Delikatessen gemeinsam mit einer Auswahl aus köstlichen Naturweinen und Craft Beer Sorten.
Neben unserem kleinen Fischmarkt werden eine Reihe von ausgewählten Berliner Streetfood Adressen bei uns vertreten sein und euch kulinarisch verwöhnen.
Außerdem haben wir diesmal herausragende Chefköche aus der Nachbarschaft eingeladen, die dem Ganzen eine mediterrane Note verleihen werden.

Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds fourth and strongest album yet for In The Red Records, “La Araña Es La Vida” summons the Mexican muse of The Great SpiderGoddess of Teoticuhan who sprouts hallucinogenic morning glories and protects the underworld, or in Kid’s eyes, the world of underground music. Recorded at The Harveyville High School gym in Kansas, Guitar slinger and singer, the legendary Kid Congo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds), bassist Kiki Solis (Knife in The Water, Rhythm of Black Lines), drummer Ron Miller (Switch Hitter, Up The Academy) are joined by Chicano, Mosrite playing guitarist Mark Cisneros (Medications, Deathfix) on this self produced ball of wax. “La Araña Es La Vida” rocks n rolls it’s way thru a planet of Glamazons (Psychic Future), blisters with the tricks of a “Magic Machine” then gets to work out a low rider groove on “Chicano Studies.” Tales of gender bending, disembodied heads, gente from La Puente and even a TCB era Elvis inspired rave up on “Karate Monkey” is merely a smatter of the magic on this platter. The world is a wild and wooly place and with “La Araña” Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds will continue to mirror it. Orale! Living La Vida Araña!
Organized by Urban Spree, the very first Berlin Tequila and Mezcal Festival comes to Urban Spree on July 15th!
Come to the Urban Spree garden to discover and taste specialty tequilas and tequila-based drinks, as well as traditional mezcal, agua frescas, michelada, and a hand-picked selection of Mexican food vendors serving regional specialties.
The all day and all night festival starts at midday with free entry.
