Castle – Albez Duz

CASTLE is pleased to announce the release of their breakout fourth full-length this Summer via Ván Records worldwide.

Titled Welcome To The Graveyard, the follow up to 2014’s critically-lauded Under Siege was recorded by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth, Eyehategod, Ommadon et al) at Type Foundry Studios in Portland, Oregon this past Winter. Welcome To The Graveyard is set for official unveiling July 15th.

Comprised of 8 tracks written over the last year, Welcome To The Graveyard sees CASTLE merge their doom powered riffing with soaring 1970s rock . The album features a new level of confident songwriting and is a creepy-crawl through the wastelands of the band’s new L.A. home; a hard-boiled barrage of classic heavy metal riffery tempered with blasts of melodic orchestrated doom. The perfect soundtrack for a Hollywood cult initiation.

Elizabeth Blackwell’s haunted vocal style draws a sigil of death and madness – imagine the Wilson sisters singing hymns from the stygian void, while lyrically CASTLE adapt the stark and compelling vistas of Aleister Crowley’s “Amphora” for the song « Traitors Rune » and Eliphas Levi’s “Transcendental Magic”, whose mystic rumination inspires the lyrical backdrop for the lead-off single « Flash of the Pentagram ».

CASTLE was forged in San Francisco in 2009 and released their debut full-length, In Witch Order, on Germany’s Ván Records in 2011. The album brought light to the newly-formed band and earned them “Album Of The Year” honors from Metal Hammer Norway, as well as Roadburn Festival’s “Newcomer Of The Year.” Shortly thereafter, the band joined the Prosthetic Records roster in North America and released their critically-adored sophomore album Blacklands. The record left to a Canadian JUNO nomination for “Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year.” CASTLE performed over two-hundred shows worldwide in support of the release alongside the likes of The Sword, Conan, Intronaut and Pentagram among many others as well as appearances at some of the underground’s largest fests including Roadburn and the London and Berlin Desertfests.

Since the release of Under Siege in 2014, CASTLE, which consists of vocalist/bassist Liz Blackwell, guitarist/vocalist Mat Davis and drummer Al McCartney, has maintained a relentless touring schedule with multiple expeditions throughout the US, Europe and Canada including stops at the 2015 edition of Heavy Days In Doomtown Fest in Copenhagen, Denmark and the Acherontic Arts Fest in Oberhausen, Germany.

CASTLE, who recently announced a three week run of tour dates around their appearance at the Maryland Doom Fest on June 24 will continue touring across the U.S. throughout July and August with the announcement of 32 additional dates. The month-long headlining trek, which follows the release of “Welcome to the Graveyard”, commences July 17 in Fullerton, CA. Expect Canadian and European dates in support of « Welcome To The Graveyard ».

Occult doom rock band ALBEZ DUZ emerged from the dark corners of Berlin in 2006. Formed by Eugen « Impurus » Herbst initially as a one-man side project, the band’s ominous debut was recorded in 2009 with singer Lars Kaeding; but after Kaeding’s death, the band stepped into the shadows for the next three years. With a lingering fire and purpose, Herbst continued to write for ALBEZ DUZ , and after an exhaustive search crossed paths with Alfonso Brito whose voice seemed destined for the project. In September 2014, the duo brought the band’s second album « The Coming of Mictlan » to life via Iron Bonehead Records and Archaic Sound. They began performing live shortly after.

ALBEZ DUZ has since shared the stage with iconic acts such as PRIMORDIAL and SWANS as well as other rising talent including BÖLZER, ASCENSION and HEXVESSEL. In a short time, the Berliners established themselves as a force in the European underground and elicited high praise from both critics and audiences alike. ALBEZ DUZ recently entered The Source Studios Munich to record its third full-length album, « Wings of Tzinacan », with producer and audio engineer Michael Zech ( SECRETS OF THE MOON, TRIPTYKON, ASCENSION ). Guitarist Julia Neuman has joined their ranks, solidifying the band as an unstoppable power trio.

With a twilight performance at the prestigious Speckjaga Funkenflug Festival already checked off the band’s list in 2016, and other appearances scheduled at In Flammen Open Air, De Mortem et Diabolum and more, ALBEZ DUZ is burning its flame higher and brighter, ready to cast a spell on the globe and initiate a new chapter in doom. The gates are open !

Marching Church

Marching Church – Official
« Live in Berlin »
18.11.2016

Einlass: 19:00 I Beginn: 20:00
VVK: 12,00 € zzgl. Geb.

Tickets sind ab sofort überall erhältlich!

Although I have done a few things under the Marching Church moniker since 2010, the project, as in the constellation on this album, was born in November 2013 with Kristian Emdal, Anton Rothstein, Cæcilie Trier, Bo H. Hansen and Frederikke Hoffmeier.

We had agreed to play with Pharmakon at Mayhem, our warehouse space in Copenhagen, even though i hadn’t done anything with the project for quite some time. With two months before the show, I threw together a few half-thought-out ideas and sketches, presented them to the new band, and was amazed to see how the songs took life in their hands. I had a picture in my head of me in a comfortable arm chair, adorned in a golden robe, leading a band while a girl kept pouring me champagne. « What would this picture sound like? » was the question.

For some songs I was inspired by my friend Jamie Cripps, who unfortunately is no longer with us, and his project The Pale Horse, as well as a record by David Maranha called Antarctica that I was played one night at my favourite bar, The Nightingale in Tokyo. Those records made me want to create something that sounded half asleep and like it was being dragged across the ground, or smoldering in a bonfire, in order to keep on playing. At least that was the initial inspiration, in time it got a bit overtaken with an idea of being the leader of a soul group—people likeJames Brown, Young Americans-era David Bowie, and Sam Cooke were inspirations in this aspect.

Improvisation, something I have never done before, was crucial in the making of this album. The album works because of the band’s incredible ability of breathing life into these loosely written and at times very simple ideas and experiments. Though Marching Church might be a dictatorship, This World is Not Enough was very much a collaborative effort. Everyone involved does other projects as well, but I wouldn’t want to see it as a « side project. » That term seems degrading.

In conclusion, half-disgusted with talking about myself, I’m going to leave you with This World Is Not Enough—eight songs of nocturnal longing, preposterous self-obsession and cockeyed etiquette.

Love,
Elias B. Rønnenfelt

Arms and Sleepers, Sun Glitters, Rome in Reverse live

Urban Spree and pøj pøj present Arms and Sleepers, Sun Glitters, and Rome in Reverse live in Berlin at Urban Spree.

Arms and Sleepers is the Boston based music duo Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic. The group was formed in 2006 and has since released 18 albums and EPs, written music for film and TV, and performed live in Asia, Europe, and North America. Their latest album, « Swim Team Remixed », a series of remixes from their LP « Swim Team », is out on 09.02.2016.

Sun Glitters is the glitchy, summer obsessed, sun-drenched electronic project of Luxembourg musician Victor Ferreira. Debuting in 2011 with the acclaimed full-length, Everything Could Be Fine and a seemingly endless string of EPs, self-released tracks and remixes, Sun Glitters has quickly left a mark on the electronic music scene. In two short years, he has toured clubs and played festivals throughout Europe and received glowing coverage from Dazed & Confused, BBC, Resident Advisor, Earmilk, XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Guardian and a bevy of trend setting music outlets. Everything from the band name to the washed out pastels of the artwork to the engulfing visuals that supplement a Sun Glitters live performance screams nostalgia. With the release of his Mush debut, Scattered Into Light, Sun Glitters has taken on the added element of female vocals from Italian songstress Sara Cappai of the dream-pop band Diverting Duo. Sun Glitters combines an ocean of lush melodies, pitch-shifted vocal samples, digi-diva choirs, warm bass pulses, and ambient soundscapes into a blisteringly beautiful sound.

Rome in Reverse is the project of Antonella Pacifico, Elena Montomoli and Ambra Nobile, three italian musicians living in Copenhagen.
Although dance music loops are the foundation, Rome in Reverse try not to make boring, conventional songs: they are so enriched by the voice of Antonella that, with the support of sounds and features, tracks become dynamic and harmonious. Rome In Reverse hide fragments, like the constant beat and upbeat, reverbs and delays. They love digital tools but also include analog, as the warm notes of Elena’s guitar are wrapped in the sounds. Rome In Reverse loves visual art and minimal projections during concerts, that they get a shape thanks to Ambra. Music with visuals define the mood.

MAGNIFICENT MUSIC NIGHT Vol. 5__a cosmic psychedelic experimental experience

feat. live:

► PAPIR (Kopenhagen)
► GAFFA GHANDI (Berlin)

_______________________________

PAPIR
www.papirband.com
Papir is a young three-piece from Copenhagen, Denmark who has played together for years under various names while slowly, but surely, perfecting their unique brand of semi-improvisational psychedelic rock. Based around Christoffer Brøchmanns complex and powerful drumming Papir creates instrumental journeys – organic structures of sound that move forward with the hypnotic groove of Can or electric Miles Davis through euphoric peaks, thunderous riffs and beautiful cosmic dronescapes.

GAFFA GHANDI
www.gaffaghandi.de
