Jan Kaláb: « Point of Space » – Berlin Book Release & Signing

Urban Spree and Jan Kaláb invite you at Urban Spree Galerie next Saturday 24.11 at 18:00 for the Berlin release of the much-awaited first published monograph of the influential Czech post-graffiti artist.

Published in November 2018 by Prague-based Trafo Gallery on the occasion of the artist’s new solo exhibition in Prague (02.11-20.12-2018), the 320-page book – edited by the artist himself with the support of critic Petr Volf and designer Jan Novák – encompasses the many different aspects of Jan Kaláb’s artistic career, from the early graffiti bombings as CAKES and POINT to his versatile works in public & indoor spaces, murals, sculptures, and paintings.

Signed copies will be available in our Berlin shop and online after the event. Please make your order on our webstore now to reserve a signed copy. All orders placed before 25.11.2018 will receive a signed copy.

In addition to the book signing event, Urban Spree Prints and Jan Kaláb release « Shine Around Blue 1118« , a very limited silkscreen print on Saturday 24.11.2018 at 18:00.

Edited by Urban Spree Prints and printed by Dolly Demoratti (Mother Drucker/Urban Spree Studio), the print is a 6-colour, 70 cm x 70 cm hand-pulled screen print, with vibrant colors and a hologram glitter layer.

New T-Shirt & Hoodie Designs by Sliks for Urban Spree

Urban Spree and Sliks are releasing a new series of Berlin-made graffiti t-shirts and hoodies.

São Paulo graffiti artist Rafael Sliks has designed a new series of screenprinted t-shirts and hoodies for Urban Spree during his Berlin Residency in March 2017. The 3 new designs are part of the 2017 new Urban Spree Artist Series and as usual are limited to 50 units per design + 10 hoodies.

T-shirts and hoodies are screen printed at Urban Spree in the Mother Drucker studios.

The 3 designs are Sliks’ astro fatcap signature style printed with a discharged ink on a black t-shirt and with a special water-based reflective silver ink on the hoodie, a bubble motive topped with a throw-up, and a pixação throw-up (URB SPR).

The series is edited in collaboration with Ease Clothing, Sliks’s streetwear collection and are available at Urban Spree Berlin and online here.

Victor Ash: Full Moon Print Release

Mother Drucker and Victor Ash just released a new limited edition screen print based on a mural created by the French artist at Urban Spree this summer: « Full Moon » can be considered as the follow-up story of the iconic Berlin Kreuzberg « Astronaut ».

9 years after Victor Ash painted the « Astronaut » mural (22m x 14m) in Berlin Kreuzberg as part of the 3rd editon of the Backjumps Festival in 2007, the artist came back to Berlin in the summer of 2016 to paste the full moon motive on the Urban Spree Artist Wall.

As much as the « Astronaut » refers to David Bowie’s song « Space Oddity » (the astronaut is a direct reference to Major Tom), « Full Moon » is a tribute to the sequel song « Ashes to Ashes ».

Separated in time (9 years), and distance (3,5km), the mural and the print offers a reverie about the fate of Major Tom and the essence of street art: did Major Tom find the moon Victor Ash placed for him, and will he ever?

We have only a couple of prints available of this already sold out edition.
