Dawn of the Dance & VISIONS Magazin präsentieren:

Zeal and Ardor – LIVE

Stellt euch vor: … … …

Milk me presents : Sister Iodine (APPEL À LA VIOLENCE TØUR)

SISTER IODiNE

French pioneer experimental rock band formed in the early 90’s by Lionel Fernandez, Erik Minkkinen and Nicolas Mazet, SISTER IODINE is a rare band who with « Blame » is releasing only now their 5th studio album. Originally born on the ashes of no wave, their music searches through some sort of terminal confusion between rock and chaos; colliding to original raw and atonal no wave, their primitive love of noise music, eruptions and assaults coming from free music; tapes collage, a bitter moisture humected in industrial music, and maybe even poisonous climaxes taken from black metal influences…

Thick drone forests pierced by grating guitar splinters are presented on the occasion of a gathering of international journalists and specialists of the global metal scene. A chance to meet up and enjoy black sonic intensities.

Whether in the frozen forests or in the sprawling urbanity of Neukölln, desolation will be desolation. Berlin outfit Sun Worship channels this bleakness into an icy spear of harsh beauty. The result is a kind of black metal without pretense or theatrics, a sonic landscape both stripped and dense.

With Nadja, Aidan Baker & Leah Buckareff make music that encompasses experimental/drone, ambient, shoegaze, and doom metal. The Canadian duo’s slowly moving musical dreamslugde and dirge-like drums has been released on labels such as Alien8, Important records, Denovali, as well as their own label, Broken Spine Productions.

James Kelly, frontman of Irish black metal band Altar of Plagues and the mind behind electronic music project, WIFE, will provide dark ambiances throughout the night.

Sister Iodine Live

French pioneer experimental rock band formed in the early 90’s by Lionel Fernandez, Erik Minkkinen and Nicolas Mazet, Sister Iodine is a rare band who release now their 5th studio album « Blame ».
Originally born on the ashes of no wave, their music searches through some sort of terminal confusion between rock and chaos; colliding to original raw and atonal no wave, their primitive love of noise music, eruptions and assaults coming from free music; tapes collage, a bitter moisture humected in industrial music, and maybe even poisonous climaxes taken from black metal influences.

The band has released on (r.i.p) Zeitgeist, Textile Records, Premier Sang and Editions Mego. Their latest album « Flame Desastre » (released on Premier Sang – lp + Editions Mego – cd version w/ extra-tracks) was released in 2009. In 2011 Sister Iodine released a deafening live record from a tour in Japan, fruit of a brutal collaboration with Violent Onsen Geisha & Hair Stylistics leader Masaya Nakahara mastered by Denis Blackham.

Vidatone Live

Berlin-based composer and saxophonist André Vida has performed widely as a soloist and has collaborated with a diverse group of artists including Anthony Braxton, Kevin Blechdom, Tarek Atoui, Hildur Gudnadottir, and Jamie Lidell. He has worked closely with Anri Sala on multi-media installations at the Serpentine Gallery in London, the Roman Ampitheatre in Arles, and the Museum of Modern Art in Louisiana, Denmark. Vida has been invited to create works focused on the medium and materiality of scoring for The Tri-Centric Foundation, Global Art Forum 7, the 8th Berlin Biennale, Eyebeam, and the European Sax Ensemble. These works include explorations of interactivity, animation, lighting, and clothing design as elements of a compositional system that refocuses the physicality and performance.

Etienne Pottier: They Live

Until May 25th, Urban Spree Galerie invites you to the first german solo show of French artist Etienne Pottier. Entitled ‘They Live’, the exhibition displays Etienne Pottier’s most recent body of works, specially crafted for his Berlin solo exhibition.

Using the artistic medium of gravure on metal, Etienne Pottier delves into his underground memories to impress usually morbid images on used fabrics.

Based on his personal experience of tekno free parties & underground sound systems, anti-fascist punk and black metal culture, Etienne Pottier translates and carves the energy and vitality captured on the different scenes as well as its strong death appeal, mainly using skulls as his artistic trademark.

This ‘materia prima’ is then transformed, alchemized into a universal form of art.

Life and death. Time-resistant metal plates and fragile fabrics. Noble technics, vernacular experience.

Etienne Pottier captures random and personal energies and transmits the fragile echo of life pulsing through the dense morbidity.

Exhibition: Tuesday – Saturday : 12:00 – 18:00. Until May 25th, 2013
