⊙ NADJA ⊙
Nadja (Aidan Baker & Leah Buckareff) create music that has been variously described as drone metal, ambient doom, and shoegaze, combining soundscapes, electronics, & atmospheric vocals, tempering the cacophony with an ethereal melodicism such that the listener is enveloped in a sublimating wall of amorphous sound. Nadja began in 2005 in Toronto, Canada & is currently based in Berlin, Germany.

⊙ SOME BECAME HOLLOW TUBES ⊙
A new project combining the talents of two of the finest producers of noise out there. Eric Quach (THISQUIETARMY, etc)’s looping layers of instrumentation give their music an ominous air but with the drumming of GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR and EXHAUST’s Aidan Girt sitting underneath it, their music has a familiarity that’s hard to shake even when hearing it for the first time. Industrial landscapes flicker before your mind’s eye and crumble again, and tension stretches time to the point where you’re not quite sure how long you’ve been listening.

⊙ A-SUN AMISSA ⊙
A-Sun Amissa is a music collective founded and led by Richard Knox (The Eternal Return Arkestra, The Rustle of the Stars, Shield Patterns, Glissando) that has featured an array of members and collaborators since it’s formation in 2011. Their sound touches on elements of post-rock, doom, dark-jazz and heavy drone. Recorded output has been released on Richard’s own Gizeh label as well as Belgium’s Consouling Sounds.
Live, the set-up can range from a solo performance to a full band show. Dense and heavy atmospheres provide the backdrop to the sound. Layers of mournful, melancholic and ethereal melodies weave amongst the thundering beats, deep drones and intense, heaving guitars.

Milk me presents : Distorted Pony/Cani Sciorri/Mark Boombastik

Distorted Pony (USA)
Legendary noise rock band heading from Los Angeles, they splitted up after 2 awesome LPs produced by Steve Albini himself.
After reforming, they are now touring Europe for the first time ever and you should not miss them!
As K-Fuel wrote:
“Melodies reminding of Joy division, a rhythm section close to Big Black/Shellac and metallic percussions in the vein of Neubauten: a rare moment not to be missed!!!”

Supporting band:
Cani Sciorri (IT)

“What do you get when you mix the Cherubs with equal parts Unsane and Led Zeppelin? Italy’s Cani Sciorri of course! They are here to rock your socks off and steal all of your beer. “

Purple Hilll Witch + Church of Mental Enlightment

With their sophomore album Celestial Cemetary out on Church Within Records , Norwegian Purple Hill Witch hits a sweet spot in the metal triangle between Angel Witch, Black Sabbath and Hawkwind. It’s that alchemistic moment where psych, doom, NWOBH, proto metal and rock is molded and sculpted into a perfect entity. Whereas their debut album had more of a stoner rock vibe to it, the new album takes the listener on a sheer proto doom journey past vast galaxies of swirling, Iommic riffs, blistering soli, driving drums and a steady surge of pulsating bass. What really strikes through on Celestial Cemetary is how much atmosphere and true feeling the band manages to cramp into the furrows of their sonic landscape – this album oozes with hallucinogenic visions of occult rituals and barren medieval country sides haunted by wicked witches. As such it leaves an even darker, more sinister imprint, and if there ever was an immaculate soundtrack for when going witch hunting across celestial cemeteries this would have to be it.

⊙ ØRESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE ⊙
ØSC is an ever changing music collective from Denmark and Sweden that play totally on the spot improvised deep trip space rock music. They have released 25 (!!!) records since 2006. Music for your mind to escape the Matrix.
– latest release:
“Chatoyant Breath” – May 16, 2018
“ØSC had been at the Black Tornado recording back in November but our friend Gary (Yawning Man) was in town and wanted to jam. It had been a long time since the main touring band of ØSC (Nick, Jiri, Mogens, myself) had been in the studio. We grabbed Martin, who plays with Nick, Jiri and Mogens in the Univerzals as well as with Jiri in his band, Fri Galaxe to play drums. He had played quite a few gigs with us in Denmark the last years. Nicklas from Papir, was a great choice to play with Gary as both are fans of each other and we love to play with Nicklas. We had a cool band.
This session was pretty fast, all done in one day and just 5 jams recorded. The vinyl is an edited version of the jams, while the CD features extended versions of the tracks so you can hear more or less the entire course of the musical journey. The music on these sections is more spaced out, relaxed and exploratory as it flows and weaves and grows tentacles to tickle and scratch your inner thoughts. Enjoy the sensations.” – Dr. Space, 2018

⊙ BLACK MOON CIRCLE ⊙

“Flowing into the 3rd Dimension” – August 25, 2017

⊙ MOUNTAIN DUST ⊙
Mountain Dust’s set was a blast of cymbal crashing, headbanging hard rock laced with doom metal and a sensible dosage of psychedelic pretensions. The songs weren’t excuses for aimless guitar wankfests, but slithering heavy jams (the bass player laid hypnotic grooves on his Rickenbacker) that turned in on themselves like a snake eating its tail. Organ à la Deep Purple gave the music a gothic nuance, but the big surprise was lap steel guitar fed through an effects rack.
The band reinvented their blues-metal sound — a genre now as outmoded as bell-bottoms and songs about scoring with underage groupies — with well-crafted riffs that make you forget it’s all the same 4/4 rhythm you’ve heard a million times. They had masterful dynamics and pauses: the music breathed, but it breathed like Godzilla. For four thrashers who look like head shop regulars, Mountain Dust didn’t play a bum note all night.

CANCELLED: Heavy Mental: In Zaire, Tau

Swamp Booking and MILK ME and Schmutz present:
Heavy Mental concert series: #3

In Zaire

Tribal psychsters In Zaire are just as confusing to pin down sound-wise as is their origin. The quartet bring the audience into a psychedelic trip through a unique mix of dub-funk rhythms, African percussion, eastern bass guitar melodies, drifting Arabic voices, minimal electronic sounds and not too hidden heavy metal influences.
After their 2013 debut album “White Sun Black Sun”, In Zaire returns with “Visions Of The Age To Come”, just released on Sound Of Cobra Records in the spring, an eightfold kaleidoscope coming into blissful focus which sees the band dancing feverishly towards the edges of hard rock heritage and psychedelic outlands.

TAU

The stories of myth tell us that the desert is a place of transformation where the physical emptiness of the landscape creates a potent space for connecting with the invisible and intangible forces of the numinous. History is full of seekers, artists, mystics and musicians who have travelled to the desert to enter into such an experience

It was after being lead on a pilgrimage through “Wirikuta”, the sacred desert of the Wixarika, native to the land the land of north west Mexico that Dublin-born Berlin resident Nunutzi was inspired to form Tau, meaning Father Sun. A shifting and fluid collaborative project with Nunutzi at the helm along with partner-in-sound, Venezuelan-born Gerald Pasqualin, the result is Tau’s debut album released through Fuzz Club on Sept 9th.

TAU TAU TAU is a wild archaic scream from the heart, woven from a seamless thread of prayers, chants, psychedelic invocations, and as Nunutzi says “songs of praise” in English, Spanish and Gaelic, shaken through pre-hispanic drums, bells, shakers, synths and acoustic guitar played “through an amp with a very shitty pick up that gives a weird sound.”

Uniform (+Greg Fox of Liturgy) • Wreck And Reference •

Dawn of the Dance and GreyZone Concerts & Promotion are happy to present you a night of experimental metal noise electronics

Uniform (+Greg Fox of Liturgy) + Wreck and Reference

Garden: ГШ / Glintshake / Shortparis DJ SET

Wake in Fright, the second full-length by the New York City duo Uniform, is a harrowing exploration of self-medication, painted in the colors of war. Following the Ghosthouse 12″, whose A-side Pitchfork called “their most relentless track yet,” vocalist Michael Berdan and guitarist/producer Ben Greenberg return with a new batch of even more punishing songs that incorporate elements of industrial music, thrash metal, harsh noise, and power electronics.
“This record is primarily about psychic transition,” Berdan explained. “The distress that these songs attempt to illustrate comes from a place of stagnation and monotony. This is what happens when old ways of thinking become exhausted and old ways of coping prove ineffective. Something must change or it will break.”
The characters Berdan brings to life in his lyrics quit using but have ruinous relapses (“Habit”) or struggle as their resolve crumbles (“Bootlicker”); they use alcohol to ease their insomnia but and are helpless when they get sober and stop sleeping again (“Night of Fear”); they’re existential misanthropes trapped in dead-end lives (“The Lost”). While the titles have been largely culled from the world of horror, thematically these songs have more in common with the works of Hubert Selby, Jr than Lucio Fulci. These are stories about people at the end of their proverbial ropes. Their old medicines are no longer effective and their old ways of living cause them nothing but confusion and despair. They are paralyzed by fear, regret, and self-doubt. This is either the darkness before the dawn or eternal night.
Greenberg sets these stories to menacing guitar and samples of literal sounds of war — the kick drums are bombs going off, the snares are gunshots. He drew the record’s immense sample library from action movies, Foley sound packs, field recordings, and more, and the result is devastating. The guitar is also as crucial as ever, and now as indebted Slayer as it is to Big Black. Greenberg conjures up massive riffs and shredding solos, pushing the band deeper into the metal world whose borderlands they’ve long stalked. Where the inner monologues of Berdan’s characters and Greenberg’s martial sonic palette collide, Wake in Fright finds its wrecking-ball power.
