We found – 30 articles for Alias

postponed: Warmduscher • Berlin

Warmduscher are a group of miscreants, known only by aliases (Clams Baker Jr, Lightnin’ Jack Everett, Salt Fingers, Quicksand and Dr. Withers aka Little Whiskers). Ardent fans, Iggy Pop and Marc Riley have only gleaming praise to heap on the band, and in return, Warmduscher have blessed them both with immortality.

The band’s live show has left thousands across the UK and Europe desperate for more. During their set at End of the Road Festival 2018, they were accused of inciting a riot and thrown into a giant hole. They have since emerged and will soon embark on a worldwide tour. Breathe it in before it’s gone.

First Show of 2020: « WALLS » A Collective Exhibition Featuring 30 International Artists

For their first show of 2020, Urban Spree Galerie presents « WALLS », a collective exhibition featuring 30 international artists.

Expanding the historical timeline and geographical scope beyond the Fall of the Berlin Wall 30 years ago, « WALLS » explores the notion of the wall, from Antiquity to contemporary issues, viewed through the lens of artists committed to the public space and whose work is closely related to walls.

Curated by Fabrice Douar and Cyrille Gouyette (Le Louvre Museum, Paris) and co-curated by Pascal Feucher (Urban Spree Galerie, Berlin), « WALLS » invites prominent artists from the comics & street art scenes to create graphic works of fiction related to walls, interpreted either as simple architectural elements, ominous symbols of segregation, canvases and vessels to convey meaning, textures, or imaginary playgrounds and labyrinths.

Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada. Painting on a fragment of a wall

While some antique artefacts appear in the show to testify of their immortal, silent presence, in the 21st Century, the Minotaur doesn’t wait at the center of his realm but has clearly moved outside, demultiplied its presence, and is building more walls.

The exhibition’s direction is therefore resolutely multifaceted, contemporary and graphic-oriented, spanning several topographies (Europe, South Korea, Middle East, Hong Kong, Cuba…), and art forms (painting, photography, installations, videos).

–––––

KRAKE FESTIVAL is a festival for challenging electronic music organized by the Berlin based Killekill crew. As the name implies, the festival spreads its tentacles out over multiple days and venues across the city, presenting different styles of music. KRAKE is not about hype, it’s about music, that dares to step off the beaten track, about surprising performances and a down-to-earth attitude, far off the mainstream.

A festival for music lovers.

–––––

The Krake weekend begins on FRIDAY daytime with the legendary Label & Synth Market, a record fair bringing together almost 100 of Berlin’s underground record labels and a small selection of synth brands to present their products in the lively garden area of Urban Spree. Next to DJ sets and surprise performances rounding off the day, the raffle is a chance to win electronic music production equipment and other cool stuff once again. All profit of the raffle will go to Ickmachwelle, a project which aims to empower and teach people with cognitive disabilities to learn how to make electronic music. Ickmachwelle will also perform live directly after the raffle!
FRIDAY night sets the stage for a series of concerts and performances in pure punk attitude! Dig through wild West-Berlin’s archives of the ‘80s with scene expert Mark Reeder and ‘B- Movie’, followed by a Q&A and dj set with and by the protagonist himself. Synth-punk Petra Flurr & 89st is opening for Schwefelgelb, Berlin’s most prolific duo in classic body music tradition, while The Horrorist is gearing up for one of his raging and devastating live performances.
On top of this we are delving deeper into DIY synth art and Circuit Bending throughout the day and night with Lithuanian Moon Armada being one of the most impressive artists in the field. He builds experimental musical devices using doll heads and other objects to create an unreal and spooky atmosphere and has prepared an installation and a performance for our festival.
