For the second time since Iceland was settled, the art festival GAMBRI will expand its domain to the city of Berlin.
The exhibition is named after the Icelandic “Gambri”, a concoction of yeast, sugar and water that is left in a barrel to ferment. The fermented liquid is Gambri, and after that is distilled, the outcome is Landi, the popular Icelandic homebrew spirit.
In much the same way, we intend to splash together different movements within Icelandic art into the cask that is Urban Spree Galerie, where the talents of the artists ferment into the cross-media super art festival that is GAMBRI II.
There are over 40 artists and acts of different kinds participating in GAMBRI II, the festival will consist of a tight program, with works including sculptures, music, performance art, design, tattoos, fine arts and street art.
The event culminates during the Opening Weekend (14-17 June 2019) to coincide with the Icelandic National Day on the 17th.
