Urban Spree Galerie returns to Paris for the Urban Art Fair. After a successful first edition in 2016, Urban Spree will attend the Fair from 19 to 23.04.2017 with a dual presentation.
On the one hand, Hendrik Czakainski will present a selection of recent artworks as well as an large installation in the public space of the fair.
On the other hand, we’ll introduce the work of Norman Behrendt to the Parisian audience with a selection of analogue photographs from his award-winning photographic series « Burning Down the House« .
Urban Spree Galerie will present an installation of Hendrik Czakainski on the occasion of the Urban Art Fair in Paris in April 2017. Video by Christiania Krueger shot in the artist’s studio and at Urban Spree Galerie in January 2017 during the making-of process.
From April 22nd to April 24th 2016, Urban Spree Galerie will participate to the first Urban Art Fair in Paris alongside a roster of 30 international urban arts galleries.
The artists of the gallery have a strong street practice, and are (with a few exceptions) living and working in Berlin, a city celebrated for its artistic cosmopolitism and strong urban arts DNA.
The artists presented by the gallery for the Urban Art Fair represent a new generation of street artists, whose imaginary is often rooted in comics, video games and remix culture (Mafia_Tabak), who deconstruct graffiti towards abstraction (Kid Cash, Mik Shida, Michal Škapa), who create whole imaginary cityscapes (Hendrik Czakainski), paint delicate huge murals (Twoone) or build tiny elements (Joshua Smith) but also well-known pioneers such as ABOVE.
In addition to his masterpiece « 120.630 » – exhibited for the first time in Paris – Hendrik Czakainski will also exhibit a sculpture in the public area of Le Carreau du Temple.
We cordially invite you to visit the Urban Spree booth at the Urban Art Fair.

Bisco Smith (NYC) and Sicoer (Krakow) will be showing their calligraffiti/handstyle skills, both on canvases as well as on paper, through a series of medium-sized inks.
EVOL is a German artist renowned for his detailed stencils on cardboard, his large installations, and his outdoor works on electric boxes, depicting Berlin cityscapes and houses, Plattenbau, and the constant evolution and fragility of the metropolis.
We will also be showing new works on paper from Marion Jdanoff (the half of of French duo Palefroi) and from Victor Ash, adding some portraits painted by Anthony Lister under the influence of Picasso during his Berlin residency at Urban Spree in September 2018.
