Caroline Sury: Exorsurisation
A series of large-format characters in which Caroline Sury preserves only the graphic ornament, carved from the black, an interlacing of mirrored forms from which the totemic figures of an exorcism ritual stand out.
Caroline Sury (born 1964 in Laval, lives and works in Marseille) is an illustrator and co-founder with Pakito Bolino of the publishing house Le Dernier Cri, a hub of international undergraphism promoting art brut and visionary artists since 1993. As an artist, she very quickly imposed her girl power trash option in dozens of publications with ultra-limited editions, most often printed in silkscreen. Her nervous and crazy drawing, particularly anchored in the throes of daily life, regularly illustrated the pages of Libération, Le Monde or La Provence, before blossoming in Bébé 2000 and Cou Tordu, two autobiographical comic strip stories, published respectively by L'Association in 2006 and 2010. In recent years, his paper cut-outs - formidable in their precision - have also given rise to numerous books and exhibitions in galleries and contemporary art centres.
