"Black Seal" is a 3-colour screen print produced on the occasion of the VAO Collective art residency and exhibition at Urban Spree Galerie in Berlin (22.11.2016 - 02-12.2016). Besides the large format screen print (Red Edition) released in a limited run of 8 copies, Urban Spree and L'Atlas release 3 print variations.
"Black Seal" is a 60 x 80 cm, 3-colour screen print produced in a limited run of 30 prints. The print is a monochrome black print where the black glossy motive appears on a black mat background with 4 layers of ink in total and 3 different sorts of black ink.
The screen print, hand-pulled at Urban Spree, is produced in a limited run of 30 prints, signed and numbered.
About the artist:
Jules Dedet Granel, aka L’Atlas, is a French artist born in 1978. He began doing graffiti in the early 1990s before co-founding the VAO Collective (“Vandales à l’Origine”) in 1996.
Fascinated by the history of handwriting, he has studied calligraphy in several countries, including in the Middle East, and designed his own typography. He frequently works in public spaces and has become a major figure of the Street Art movement and calligraphic abstraction. He lives and works in Paris.
