Lin Zhipeng aka 223 snaps his circle of friends and himself, portraying his view of youth culture and lifestyles in contemporary China. His photographs are marked by fashionable indolence, saturated colours, penetrating flash, and somewhat frontal shots that unveil his models’ empowering presence and vulnerability at the same time. Hidden Track is his first photobook published in Europe and has been censored in China.
About the Photographer:
Lin Zhipeng (223) was born in Guangdong province, China and graduated from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies with major of Financial English. Lin is a photographer and freelance writer based in Beijing. He has contributed to numerous creative and fashion magazines as editor and writer and has produced photo shoots for magazines such as Vice. He has also self published numerous photozines and photobooks such as Satellite of Love, Versatile, My Private Broadway.
He named himself “No.223” after the lovelorn cop character in Wong Kar-wai’s movie Chungking Express.
