In an undetermined future, unless it is a parallel world, Marc-Antoine Mathieu takes us into the depths of the Louvre Museum.
We follow in the footsteps of the Volumeur, charged with quantifying the unquantifiable, and his assistant Léonard. They will go backstage at the largest museum in the world to take measurements.
Marc-Antoine Mathieu takes the opportunity to show us "what we don't see". In these underground passages of an imaginary Louvre, he reveals a world in which the museum is not only the setting but also the raison d'être.
Rather than confronting our gaze with the preserved works, Marc-Antoine Mathieu prefers to treat the museum as a work in its own right and offers us his thoughts in the form of a journey through the secret and hidden places that are its cogs, mechanics and machinery. From the casting room to the frame workshop, from the copy workshop to the masterpiece room, we are invited to an original and surprising visit.
