German Premiere of the Czech Graffiti Film Džob
- Sep 28, 2025
Džob (meaning "Job" in English) is the final part of a trilogy, following the cult films Gympl (2007) and Vejška (2014). In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the trilogy has become a cultural phenomenon. Although rooted in graffiti, the films attract audiences of all generations. In the Czech Republic alone, more than 300,000 viewers have seen Džob in cinemas in 8 weeks, an extraordinary success for a country of 11 million people. Part of the film was shot in Berlin, including scenes at our gallery Urban Spree.
Synopsis: The story follows Petr and Michal, who have been into graffiti since high school. As they approach forty, they appear outwardly as responsible adults. Michal works as a manager in a brokerage corporation and lives in a luxury residence with his wife and their one-year-old daughter. Petr runs a graphic design studio and is trying to establish himself as an artist. Over time, Petr decides to quit illegal graffiti, while for Michal it remains an addiction and his only escape from everyday life. Their friendship falls into conflict, and their life paths begin to drift apart…
The premiere will be attended by the film delegation, director Tomáš Vorel, Czech and German actors, and graffiti writers featured in the film. The film will be screened in Czech with German subtitles.
