About the Concert
FVNERALS aus Glasgow machen Musik, die sich an der Schnittstelle von Doom, Post-Rock, Shoegaze und Ambient bewegt. In der Tradition von Bands wie Earth und zeitgenössischen Bands wie True Widow oder King Woman, vereinen FVNERALS akribisch Soundlandschaften, welche einerseits beklemmend und andererseits von tragender Schönheit bestimmt werden.
Gegründet wurden FVNERALS 2013 in Brighton. Seitdem haben sie zwei EPs (The Hours und The Path) und ihr ausverkauftes Debutalbum The Light veröffentlicht. Nach einigen Touren in den UK und Europa, formierte sich die Band vor den Aufnahmen neu. Das zweite Album heißt Wounds.
Mit Wounds verfolgen FVNERALS im Gegensatz zu den vorherigen Releases einen weniger verträumten, dafür mehr schlichten und nüchter- nen Ansatz. Während der Sound karker und harscher geworden ist, versucht er gleichzeitig die emotionale Härte, Zerbrechlichkeit und den Kontrast innerhalb der Musik zu bewahren. Das Album vergegenwär- tigt die Reise durch das Leben. Jeder Song funktioniert eigenständig, reiht sich aber ebenso nahtlos an die anderen Songs, wobei jeder
seine eigene Emotionalität entfacht und dabei textlich auf Themen wie die Unabänderlichkeit von Zeit, chronischer Depression, Isolation oder Lethargie und Ängstlichkeit eingeht.
Mit Wounds perfektionieren sie ihren malmenden Doom. Mehr denn je rückt Bassistin und Sängerin Tiffany Strom in den Vordergrund. Ihre eindringliche und markante Stimme drückt den sieben emotional niederschmetternden Songs ihren Stempel auf.
Wounds wird am 14. Oktober 2016 von Golden Antenna Records (EU) und The Native Sound (US) veröffentlicht.
