Urban Spree Galerie presents « Paradox.Paradise », a solo photographic exhibition by Lukas K Stiller.

« Paradox.Paradise » opens on Friday, June 17th, 2022 at 18:00 at Urban Spree Galerie in Berlin und runs until July 24th, 2022.

« Paradox.Paradise » is a rare photographic event, not only owing to the captivating subject - the enigmatic and ever elusive Berlin writer Mr.Paradox.Paradise - but also the photographic maestria & athletic quality required to take photographs as close and dramatic as possible, an absolute photographic « tour de force » that paradoxically feels effortless.

Akin to an embedded war photographer, the risk-taking of both the subject and his photographer are immense. Photography captures a moment in time but that still image is nonetheless vibrant with life. What renders Lukas K Stiller photographs even more striking are us imagining the ghastly wind atop a 100m high tower before the unfathomable descent, the frailty of the rope and the reliance on a makeshift abseiling device and hooks, if not the adrenaline of a possible capture, a defeat at the foot of the building. Whether it is rooftop and invisible calligraphy, « spiritual letters » glued on buildings, rope down graffiti, trainsurfing the underground brand new U5 subway line, Paradox is on all fronts and so is Lukas, defying the laws of gravity.

« Paradox.Paradise » depicts a lonely chivalric quest through a fantomatic Berlin, a melancholic voyage through a city that looks void of his inhabitants, but where the architecture is sublimated. As such, the photographic series is as much a documentary account on Paradox as a rare-of-a-kind photobook about Berlin, a nocturnal ballade through the Haupstadt, its architecture and unseen before viewpoints, where black & dark yellow hues give the city its eerie coloration.

A photobook of the whole photographic series will be released by Urban Spree Books in the coming weeks in a regular edition as well as a special collector edition with signed photographs. In addition, the much-awaited release of the physical edition of Mr.Paradox.Paradise’s latest movie « Spiritual Letters » is around the corner.
