𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘂𝘀 ist eine 2003 gegründete US-amerikanische Post-Metal-Band, die die Grenzen der Genrekonventionen konsequent erweitert und eine einzigartige Klanglandschaft geschaffen hat, die Elemente aus Post-Rock, Post-Metal, Post-Punk und Shoegaze nahtlos miteinander verbindet. Die Klanglandschaften, eindringlichen Melodien und zum Nachdenken anregenden Texte der Band haben ihnen im Laufe der Jahre eine treue Fangemeinde und Anerkennung bei den Kritikern eingebracht. Nach fast zwei Jahrzehnten hat sich Junius nun zu einem 5-köpfigen Moloch entwickelt, mit den Gründern Joseph E. Martinez und Dana Filloon sowie diesen neuen Mitgliedern: Orion Wainer (Constanta, Tombs), Matthew Vincenty (Glacier) und Eoghan McCarthy (Circus Traes). Die Klangwand von Junius ist als 5-köpfige Band noch gewaltiger. Geduldige europäische Fans werden nach fast zehn Jahren Wartezeit endlich die Chance haben, Junius‘ faszinierende Live-Auftritte mitzuerleben und Songs aus ihrem Album „Eternal Ritual for the Accretion of Light“ zu hören.
Junius arbeitet derzeit an ihrem mit Spannung erwarteten vierten Album in voller Länge. Leadsänger/Songwriter Joseph E. Martinez kommentiert: „Dieses Album war das am schwierigsten zu schreibende, da ich kein Konzept habe, sondern einfach nur live hinterherjagen muss, da mir auch einige Grenzen gesetzt sind, nur Gitarren-Rects, keine Synoptik und kein handwerkliches Konzept, außerdem müssen das Arrangement und die Parts alle live gespielt werden. Kein Stapeln unmöglich zu spielender Gitarren-Parts, was den Aufnahmeprozess in Richtung einer klanglich klareren Aufnahme führen sollte.
