About

This diptych was created by Shepard Fairey aka Obey. The artwork was inspired by the thema of immigration vs tourism industry and the paradoxical nature of the subject, in a country that was built by immigration.

In “Welcome Visitor,” Shepard Fayrey highlights the immigration ban and internment of Japanese people including Japanese-American citizens during World War II when the Japanese were seen as the enemy. He uses this reference here to reinforce the absurdity of the fear of immigration.
