About the Concert
Jemek is back! The Ancestry is the new 4-track EP by Jemek Jemowit and a direct continuation of his video work The Poles of Berlin (31.05.2024–26.01.2026, BERLIN GLOBAL, Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin). While the video features interviews with Berliners of Polish descent about their experiences with racism, Jemowit’s latest release tackles European racism more broadly and examines racist patterns in supposedly left-wing circles, such as the “White Savior Syndrome.” He also addresses the term “race,” which is enshrined in Germany’s Basic Law to protect people of different “races” but remains a taboo when used to describe individuals. This contradiction, coupled with his own experiences with active and passive racism and the growing shift to the political right in Germany, motivated Jemowit to create this project.
Choke Chain, the relentless solo project of Milwaukee-based musician Mark Trueman, delivers a raw fusion of dark, visceral industrial soundscapes with elements of EBM, dark electro, goth, and punk, crafting a uniquely intense and punishing experience. Following a highly successful 2023 tour, Choke Chain is returning to Europe for some special festival and club shows.
