The 4-day musical wanderings organized at Urban Spree culminates in a grand finale with the Parisian international festival Villette Sonique on 28/03. Long-time friends Nicolas Defawe (Urban Spree) and Etienne Blanchot (Villette Sonique) have combined their skills and invited friends from Berlin and Paris to play on the last night of the fair! Started in 1998, Fred picked up his guitar, sampling it and focusing on the melodic attributes of beat, developed the particular sound he is now renowned for. The distorted but melodic guitar, the unquantised rhythms, the delay-heavy vocals and the buzzing rumbling 808 bass drum have all became characteristic features of the Electronicat sound. His songs encompass an array of influences in all respects - particularly glam rock, psychedelia, 60s garage rockabilly and experimental electronic music - and takes it further making electronic music sound more rock n roll. Today, Krikor’s musical style has become more hybrid than ever, a personal synthesis of his musical obsessions : the fat groove and old drum machines of Chicago House, the abstract sounds of minimal techno, the urge and energy of Rock(abilly), the harshness of Industrial music, the dark romantism of Folk anti-heroes from the 60s and the forward thinking of GRM lab rats (Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry..).
