About
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the publication of "Farbzüge", the photographer Emmett Edelstein decided to publish a revised version of his book.
While a few shots have been replaced with some new photos from the hardcover’s respective years (2012-2015), most of the content stayed the same. Several images are now presented in larger format what makes them even more enjoyable.
With "Farbzüge", The Berliner photographer Emmett E. has been documenting graffiti on Berlin S-Bahn trains for a number of years. The order in which the photos are shown is by the time of the day they have been taken at. The light gradually changing from early morning to night gives a sense of a single day journey, while bringing together several years of photography.
The outcome is a 164 pages photobook, with a yellow sticker placed on its cover, the very same one the train drivers affix to the wagons in order to signal that a wagon needs to be cleaned after some graffiti action as well as to prevent graffiti writers to take clean photo shoots of their works.
Including works from ROY1ST, NOAIM, NAKZ, ROGER, KRIPOE, MOAR, DROW, NERO, BILD, KOTZE, AKUSO, VIPER, SPIDER, HUSKIES, WULFF, KIX, MISERABLES, KIRD, SKEL, BEMAD, BLOK (†), RESKO, SHAKE, TOPSPRAYER™, XZES, LYRIK, BUZZ, REVO, YALT, FIXER, HYDRO, IGID, ZIPIT, ROTZE, CAUSE, RELAX, MAD, ORION, ROCCO, CELO, JAZZ, OUPS, DEAY, PLAK, GONZO, JAREK, JTEK, KARL, ROZER, TRUE....
“Color on a train. Barely any other art is as short-lived as graffiti. Considering the work put into every single piece a photo of it is indispensable. However, the focus of the photo does not necessarily have to be on the graffiti. When I take pictures, I want to show real and authentic moments. The train that runs through the city, which practically changes its scenery with every second. People all over the city see the train at these very different places. They may even react to the piece or simply ignore and reject it. Everything is possible.” Emmett E.
At the same time than this reprint, Emmett Edelstein also published "Schriftzüge", a new Volume about painted Berlin Sbahn collection.
