The Valencian duo PichiAvo, formed by Pichi (Juan Antonio) and Avo (Álvaro), presents their first anthology to commemorate ten years of unstoppable artistic career.
This book analyses and presents the duo's artistic evolution, whether in the public space, on gallery walls or in their studio in Manises (Valencia, Spain). Page after page, we discover their work on gigantic walls, their experiments in the studio and witness their search for their own identity.
“Our style develops in the studio with the outdoor work in mind, as an exercise of translating the exterior into the interior. The studio keeps the mural work fresh and the murals keep the studio work vibrant, just as the graffiti keeps the classical part alive and the classical part brings the graffiti to life.”
It is a double life, divided into two clearly distinct phases of experience: “indoors” and “outdoors”, private and public. Our Odyssey, in a clear allusion to Homer’s classic work and the journey of the hero, therefore seems a good image through which to understand this duality, this constant element of their lives. Moreover, it offers a unique opportunity to read and under- stand a line of work and a set of dynamics and experiences that normally, as viewers, we do not have the privilege of seeing.
