Basement Bash Vol. XIX & TDWF- Headliner: The Molochs

Basement Bash and The David Watts Foundation are proud to announce that they will be joining forces for this special edition of your favorite Berlin concert series, with a kick-ass line-up!

THE MOLOCHS (USA)

It’s not a surprise to see that the Molochs are on the same label that brought the world the Allah-Las. Like their fellow Los Angelenos, the Molochs are in thrall to that point in the mid-60s where beat groups, garage bands and psychedelic outfits began to merge into each other. There’s a drowsiness about their music – they tend towards the mid-tempo, Lucas Fitzsimons drawls his vocals, and the guitars jangle more than growl – that means they don’t quite tip over into Pebbles/Nuggets territory. Which means they can’t just get by on sneers and snarls; they need melodies, too. And when they hit the sweet spot, they’re a treat: Charlie’s Lips, powered by none-more-Shindig! organ, is terrific; The One I Love sounds like a lost demo from the Leaves; No More Cryin’ ups the energy, crossing over into early Stones-styled R&B. Genre fans will love it – it’s the perfect soundtrack to pulling on your Chelsea boots and black crew-neck sweater.

THREE MARIAS (DE)

Previously and briefly known as Thee Dropp, Three Marias is a trio (you guessed right) of expats based in Berlin. Stranded on the Spree shores while sailing from their homelands with the winds of change at their backs, the three boys – yes, boys – bonded through their common inspiration from the sound of 60s garage and surf rock, as well as the fuzzy growls of today’s wave of neo-psychedelic rock. Through reverb-drenched chords and dissonant, roaring riffs, Three Marias will take you on board in their cruise amongst punchy irony and dreamy melancholia.

PALM SQUIRREL (DE)

Palm Squirrel are a Berlin-based noise rock trio formed by Mathew Johnson, Paul Laburre and Jason Gold. Their debut EP is coming out on Baby Satan Records.

Basement Bash Vol.XVIII

Spring is here and so is Basement Bash with once again, a killer line-up that will sweep you off your feet!
Make sure to get your pre-sale ticket if you want to save some money for shots and beers.
————–

Drahla -UK
Post-punk kick-ass three piece band will electrify your night with their unpredictable dark art-rock. They have established themselves as a formidable and distinctive band across their three sold out 7″ singles and 2017’s EP. Minimal but yet robust bass-heavy sound coming straight to you.

Dream Boogie -SE
Some sunny vibes brought by this Swedish Garage-punk band with a hint of old school pop vibes. “Their songs sound like old friends passing a fresh beer. And maybe that’s the great art of their songs. They work just about anywhere, in the car, at a party, while skating or cooking.” Sounds of Subterrania.

La Laguna Band -DE
Have you ever wondered what glitter tastes like? When the band met on the hedonistic streets of Berlin they had an idea. The idea to make something out of nothing. The idea to change the Grey Winter into a blossoming Jelly-fish garden.

Basement Bash Vol.XVII – Headliner: LeVent

Basement Bash returns for its 17th edition – and this time including some surprises. Stay tuned!

————–

LeVent
Like a drunken driver, LeVent swerves up over the curb, drives straight through the garage and total their ride somewhere out in a goat farm. Bleating at it’s most danceable, they carry listeners far away to get lost in nice nonsense, stuck in heavy forgetting, and transfixed on what was, leaving you thirsty for more. LeVent started playing live in late 2015, shared the stage with a bunch of talents including Kadavar, The Underground Youth, Die Nerven and Preoccupations, to name a few, and evolved into one of the most interesting acts on Berlin’s underground scene. In June 2017, they released their debut album on a recordings ltd., the label of Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre (who also co-produced the album with Andrea Wright from Parr Street Studios Liverpool), and supported The Brian Jonestown Massacre in Germany, Austria & Switzerland in 2018.

the indian queen
Two Berlin-based humans playing raw, industrial hard rock. This collaboration of ABUNEZA and NAZ LEZAR just released their 2nd EP.
“No compromise are exactly what Berlin punk band The Indian Queen are about, except that they didn’t bother with the bass guitar. Everything has been scraped bare and left to fend for itself.”- Indieberlin

Basement Bash Vol.XVI – Surfbort, Gringo Star, Askers Dodge

Basement Bash was born a whole two years ago! Yeah – we can’t believe it either but as a present from us to you we’re offering an electrifying Tuesday night filled with debauchery, mayhem and attitude. You know the drill, just show up.

————–

Surfbort
Surfbort, a four-piece punk band from Brooklyn, New York, channels inspiration from the 80’s punk scene to produce rousing, explosive music.
Surfbort’s live experience is visceral and confrontational so no wonder The Black Keys picked them to open for their 2018 tour and Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) signed them to his label, Cult Records.
Surfbort’s feedback-strafed, guitar-shredding punk music says no to a digital age full of intolerance; they radiate love and friendship. All are welcome in the SURFBORT FREAK FAMILY!

Gringo Star
“Mixing one part punk rock ethic, one part manic performance and a heavy dose of 1950’s Americana….Images of old Western shootouts, drunken nights in saloons and frantic pianos were all over the place while they played.” – Consequence of Sound

Askers Dodge
Up-and-comers Askers Dodge are a blistering international 4 piece based in Berlin, kindling shades of Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Black Sabbath. Be careful that their retro daydreams don’t turn you into the screaming teenagers of the 50’s.

20:00 – Doors
21:00 – Askers Dodge
21:45 – Gringo Star
22:30 – Surfbort
23:15 – Basement Bash DJ set

Entry: 7€ – 5€ with valid student ID

Die Letzte Metro Presents ; Farfara Live on Basement

Farfara – Live @ Urban Spree’s Basement – 19th of February – Doors open @ 21:00

FARFARA are a three-piece originating from Istanbul who have been playing together since their early teenage years.
A host of bedroom recordings, live shows and an unquenchable thirst for improvisation has seen the band develop from their early days of shoegaze and ambient rock to a more psychedelic kraut-driven sound. Ethereal guitar effects mix with drums, bass and synths to create an all-encompassing, visceral experience. With guitarist and vocalist, Etkin Cekin now based in Berlin and heavily active in the experimental music scene, the band has taken a further step in their evolutionary journey.

After a two days recording session of Jam and improvisations with guess artists Ira using a 6 gongs wall and Olaf using an original Moog Voyager, the big band is going to perform live in public on Thursday the 19th.

Farfara also performed on 16.02. at Lido supporting Deerhoof, and will perform on 27.02 at Acud, supporting the great Derdiyoklar –
