BABY SATAN Nights – Tanning Bats/Avishag C. R./Nunofyrbeeswax

Holly Hell!

Have we got a night for you!

Tanning Bats
https://tanningbats.bandcamp.com/
With a tight and funky rhythm section, angsty vocals and twangy, surf guitars, tanning bats have cut through air molecules as a trio for the past 3 years, taking it off where their former punk outfit ‘Ringostarwars’ left it.
With their new debut vinyl LP – ‘On The Assembly Line Of Heads’ they emphasise a satiric critique of humankind’s conflict of foreground and progression on the one side, and cultural and socio-economic decay on the other. The many captured moods on their album consist of machine gun like punk explosion to cozy and semi psychedelic mantra, bumpy danceable post-punk gems.

On The Assembly Line Of Heads – coming out on the 23rd of May! so yeah, release party!

nunofyrbeeswax
https://nunofyrbeeswax.bandcamp.com/
Nunofyrbeeswax write and play a bunch of pop songs as raw as
their hearts in a minimal set up. Their sound has been described as
an idiosyncratic blend of garage rock, post punk and “proto-indie” for whatever that means. Their music escapes easy associations,
however, they have reminded audiences of bands such as Half
Japanese, the Velvet Underground, The Ex, The Fall, Beat
Happening, B52s and The Cramps.

PAWS (FAT CAT Records/Glasgow)

PAWS are Phillip, Josh and Ryan.
In 2012 the band released the Misled Youth EP followed shortly by their debut full length album Cokefloat!, which garnered critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, The BBC and SPIN.

PAWS’ second album, Youth Culture Forever marked a significant change in strength and mood for the band. Recorded live in a home studio in the woods in upstate New York, the album captured the Scottish trio in their element. Fiercely loud and brutally raw, YCF also demonstrated emotional and dynamic depths that added new shades and colours to the sound already developed on their debut album, resulting in a record of renewed confidence and even greater scope.

Album number three.
No Grace.
More than just the third PAWS record, No Grace is representative of a transformative period of time in the bands life and is the gravel-throated affirmation of that ‘do it or die’ attitude that informs any great work of passion.
It’s the song you sing when you get kicked in the teeth; the decision you make to get back on your feet and rattle off another punch; it’s the humility of defeat and the ecstasy of triumph because you never gave up.

“This is agonisingly painful music, poured straight from the heart – just as punk should be.” – BBC

Terry Malts (USA / Slumberland)

Who are these Nobodies? Where is this Nowhere? The same crack-staff has been employed: Phil Benson (bass, vocals), Corey Cunningham (guitar, throat), and Nathan Sweatt (drums, confusion), recorded by they-damn-selfs in their “San Francisco practice space,” and again mixed by Monte Vallier (Weekend, Half Church). Hey, Parrothead: changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, right? Right! Which is why the Malts tropes you’ve come to know and love haven’t gone anywhere: anger, hatred, exhaustion, delusion, seclusion, consumption, life, death, breathing, eating, and probably some sensitivity or something. It’s all right in front of your earballs!
Considering a stiff breeze could blow your web address over, take this “press-release” as a “warning.” NRTIN is a punch in the gut, a kick to the teeth, a tickle exactly where you want it (wink, wink). This thing is the toupee of your record collection: throw it on top of that embarrassing stack o’ wax by the stereo to instantly transform your reputation.
Look, we can’t do everything to help out you and those of your odor, but giving you this news is a step in the right direction. And this is coming straight from the top floor. Terry Malts’ Nobody Realizes This Is Nowhere shreds. It blasts. It blows (a good thing!). A dynamite record, that’ll prolly say “Play It Loud!” or whatever in the liners. But seriously, folks… listen to this thing and leave me alone!
Terry: just like the days of our pathetic weeks, a name that ends in “why…?”
