Julietta la Doll
Drawn to the glamour of old world wonders a wide-eyed Lolita raised in East Berlin took her wanderlust to the road. Creating burlesque and sideshow spectacle performances that embody a variety of inspirations from many timeless fantasies of dangerously desirable women. Fulfilling a dream to runaway and join the circus. Our sideshow sweetheart has more tricks than just unveiling her beauty to command the imaginations of audiences. Exposing secrets separated between fine lines of pleasure and pain.

⊙ TRUMANS WATER ⊙
(San Diego – California)
https://trumanswater.bandcamp.com
https://www.facebook.com/trumanswater
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trumans_Water
The Water took shape in ’91, when the Fender-bending brothers Branstetter hooked up with singer-guitarist-catalyst Glen Galloway; soon San Diego had a rollicking avant-rock angle to its music scene in TW, the kind of band that, say, could righteously open for/tour with the Boredoms or Stereolab (Trumans did). But after their self-made albums Of Thick Tum, Spasm Smash, the Godspeed tetralogy and numerous singles had sent their sounds worldwide, Glen exited to marry, concentrate on his Holy Spirit-stoked Soul-Junk group and stay in SD as Trumans continued touring, eventually moving to Oregon. What amazed many was how quick a study then-bassist Kevin B. proved to be when Glen G. passed on lead vocal and co-guitar-ing duties. Empowered, the younger Branstetter picked up the torch, carrying it still. From time to time, Galloway would return as a guesting full member to augment Trumans albums.
Trumans Water never really went away. But the veteran American spazz-rock/squiggle-core group’s live shows have been rare in recent years (outside of the Pacific Northwest, that is.) TW has become increasingly more obscure as well, relatively unknown to untold pods of younger blog-rockin’ folk sharp-eared discerners, who might well luv TW were they to know TW still deemed legendary by those who, a) remember Trumans’ halcyon days in America’s early/mid-90s guitar-rock underground;
b) recall the life-altering praise from abroad, with the late great all-time tip-top good-taste-making radio
DJ John Peel championing them over international airwaves, and the Melody Maker making this pithy 1993 assessment: Sonic freaks with a lust for life, Trumans Water make Pavement sound like U2. TW has continued, doing it all even with key co-founding brothers living miles apart: lanky guitarist-vocalist Kirk Branstetter in Portland, Oregon, where the band relocated in 1995 (they formed in San Diego in 1991); and savvy vox/gtr/bass/etc. guy Kevin Branstetter, who married French and lives south of Paris w/ wife and offspring (and is known to offer pro road/liaison services for indie/outie music types touring lEurope).
Trumans is rounded out by versatile bassist/veteran cohort Mike Coumatos (also known as 50% of fine ongoing Portland party-rock duo the Bugs) and drumming dynamo Geoff Soule (of Fuck and Sad Horse). The TW identity has remained: the ever-active, wildly clawing, rough-toned brace of guitars; the sour-sweet sing-shout screech-croon ‘n’ power-yowl; the explosive rhythms, herking here and jerking there, none too predictable anywhere. And some fun sound-play with thoughtfully goofin’ verbiage.
TW has been recording over the past years but not releasing anything. They are currently assembling some of those songs for release previous to tour. What’s more, Trumans is planning to catch up any interested parties in coming months by digitally re-releasing the 1st four elusive albums of the Trumans Water discography. Their coming tour will be a celebration of those first four albums along with new material.

⊙ TRIGGER CUT ⊙
(Stuttgart – Germany)
https://triggercut1.bandcamp.com
https://www.facebook.com/Triggercut-742161089469022
Trigger Cut are hard hitting to say the least. The drums pack an intense energy behind the high guitar tones which allow for the bass to really punch through. The result is a sound dealing nothing but brute force without the need for any over-engineering and a uniquely raw punk rock experience. The rough and ready vocals perfectly round off the resounding tension with only small doses of any form of melody.

⊙ FLEUVES NOIRS ⊙
(Lille – France)
https://fleuvesnoirs.bandcamp.com
https://www.facebook.com/FleuvesNoirs
Fleuves Noirs is an experience of collective madness in a form of a great tribal ritual. The dance is led by a tribal beat with incantory and hallucinated vocals, all leading to an inevitable chaos. Fleuves Noirs performances are like an Ayahuasca ritual, they don’t leave anyone unscathed.

⊙ DEAD SENTRIES ⊙
(Berlin – Germany)
https://deadsentries.bandcamp.com
https://www.facebook.com/DeadSentries
Minimalistic. Ritualistic. Hypnotic. Dead Sentries play edge of your seat, noisy, outsider punk rock. Focusing on mesmerising rhythms, pulsating basslines and discordant, razor sharp guitar, Dead Sentries are brash and compelling. The music swaggers, struts and swings. The sound is visceral and primal.

⊙ NADJA ⊙
Nadja (Aidan Baker & Leah Buckareff) create music that has been variously described as drone metal, ambient doom, and shoegaze, combining soundscapes, electronics, & atmospheric vocals, tempering the cacophony with an ethereal melodicism such that the listener is enveloped in a sublimating wall of amorphous sound. Nadja began in 2005 in Toronto, Canada & is currently based in Berlin, Germany.

⊙ SOME BECAME HOLLOW TUBES ⊙
A new project combining the talents of two of the finest producers of noise out there. Eric Quach (THISQUIETARMY, etc)’s looping layers of instrumentation give their music an ominous air but with the drumming of GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR and EXHAUST’s Aidan Girt sitting underneath it, their music has a familiarity that’s hard to shake even when hearing it for the first time. Industrial landscapes flicker before your mind’s eye and crumble again, and tension stretches time to the point where you’re not quite sure how long you’ve been listening.

⊙ A-SUN AMISSA ⊙
A-Sun Amissa is a music collective founded and led by Richard Knox (The Eternal Return Arkestra, The Rustle of the Stars, Shield Patterns, Glissando) that has featured an array of members and collaborators since it’s formation in 2011. Their sound touches on elements of post-rock, doom, dark-jazz and heavy drone. Recorded output has been released on Richard’s own Gizeh label as well as Belgium’s Consouling Sounds.
Live, the set-up can range from a solo performance to a full band show. Dense and heavy atmospheres provide the backdrop to the sound. Layers of mournful, melancholic and ethereal melodies weave amongst the thundering beats, deep drones and intense, heaving guitars.

Dark Beats ~ Cold Waves

LIVE
TWINS (That Which Is Not Said), Atlanta -> listen
Leroy Se Meurt, Paris -> listen
Zagrebleu, Leipzig -> listen
DJ:s Enfant Terrible, Neugeborene Nachtmusik and åtåmåtån

TWINS/That Which Is Not Said is Matt Weiner who is also known for his Featureless Ghost project and of course as the head of the DKA Records label. His project TWINS is not limited to one specific style but the dominant characteristic is the synth driven sound. Other influences are various styles of dance music and a healthy dose of arty post-punk.

Leroy Se Meurt from France is a duo with a background in electronics and in punk music and this is very evident in their sound. Old school EBM is fused with fierce elektro. A true punk attitude and energy is always there, sort of in the tradition of Ich Bin. They stay away from the contemporary EBM sound with techno influences. Leroy Se Meurt choose their own stylistic path but with the same impact for the dance floor, or maybe even more impact.

Zagrebleu is a synthpunk duo from Leipzig throwing Wave, EBM, Acid, New Beat in a blender and spice it up with a pinch of Industrial and Hi-NRG.

Wolf Mountains – “Urban Dangerous Tour”

The third studio album “Urban Dangerous” by the garage-rock trio Wolf Mountains opens further doors into the world of timeless pop. The characteristic features like the rolling bass or the 90’s high school rock vocals are still present, but a playground of sound experiments and skits is opened up. The songwriting seems more mature, the riffs more cheeky, the fun factor more balanced, so that the individual songs are amplified by the “hit” factor.

“Urban Dangerous” radiates an energy that increases the mood barometer considerably and can also be enjoyed in all kinds of situations. The R-O-C-K factor plays a big role whether packed in a western look, driving psychedelic blues or with classic indie punk attitude, the Wolf Mountains give the genre the esprit it desperately needs in 2019.

“Urban Dangerous” released on September 27th on Treibender Teppich Records

Surf Curse – Urban Spree

Tickets: http://puschen.tickets.de / KOKA36 / BIS AUFS MESSER Recordstore

Surf Curse is the indie rock recording project of Los Angeles based songwriters Nick Rattigan and Jacob Rubeck. The pair met as teenagers while growing up outside of Las Vegas, and immediately bonded over underground music, cult films, and a desire to leave their vacuous home town. After moving to Reno for college, Rattigan and Rubeck discovered the city’s local DIY scene and similar blossoming music communities across the country that were becoming connected through the internet. In the fall of 2010 the two formalized their on-going musical collaboration with a new two piece called Surf Curse and played their first show at a Halloween Party. Surf Curse’s initial songs were frantic punk anthems about adolescent heartbreak and alienation, and the band quickly developed an audience of young people who resonated with Rattigan and Rubeck’s anecdotal writing.

Early on Surf Curse frequently performed at landmark all ages venues like The Holland Project, The Smell, and Pehrspace. On one of their first trips to Los Angeles, Rattigan and Rubeck befriended a community of musicians including the likes of Palm Reader, Girlpool, Michael Vidal, and Heller Keller, and recorded their first two releases with Andrew McKelvie at The Smell. Surf Curse developed a cult following almost over night in Los Angeles, but abruptly disappeared for a two year hiatus after Rattigan relocated to New York City.

While living on separate sides of the country, Rattigan and Rubeck devoted most of their attention to their respective solo projects, Current Joys (FKA Tele/Visions) and Casino Hearts. Surf Curse reunited in 2015 and began demoing their second full length, Nothing Yet, which they released with Danger Collective Records in 2017. Over the past five years, seeing Surf Curse live has become a right of passage for disaffected youth in the South-West while Rattigan and Rubeck have spent their formative years between Las Vegas, Reno, and Los Angeles.

Their new record, Heaven Surrounds You, is a coming of age epic, inspired by the many cult films they’ve cherished throughout their young adulthood that are referenced across the album’s track-list. Rattigan and Rubeck worked with veteran indie producer Jarvis Taveniere, carefully crafting a their most lush and vulnerable record to date.
