Low Bros complete the last mural of 2016

Berlin-based artist duo Low Bros just completed a mural at Urban Spree in December 2016. This Urban Spree Artist Wall is the last of the year and will stay facing Warschauer Str. until spring 2017.

The brothers from Hamburg painted their iconic wolves, a recurrent motive of the duo throughout the past year, which gently catches the pale nordic winter light.

A video of the complete work-in-progress will be released soon by the London-based Spraying Bricks project.

Celebration of the amazing mural by Low Bros / The Weird

Once again the biggest wall at Urban Spree has been regraffitied. This time by the gifted Low Bros from The Weird crew.

All eyes on Brazil during the World Championship? Low Bros offer another perspective where Jaguars, favelas, Jungle and stadium meet in an amazing colorful maelstrom.

Do use the opportunity to tell Flo from LOW BROS to make a wish because we are also going to celebrate his birthday!

The opening will be acoustically supported by Efalive of the Jazoburbs / Editude Pictures, additionally the best Couscous der Welt will satisfy any hunger.

The setting will be in our back garden. Our men have made a great effort in sweat to build this garden… The Low Bros mural Opening will be the first occasion to enjoy the new garden!

June 2014: Low Bros

The Summer Wall Edition of the Urban Spree Artists’ Wall saw the super gifted Hamburg and Berlin based LOW BROS duo (The Weird Crew) striking hard at Urban Spree with a crazy Brazil-inspired mural that already attracted a lot of attention and respect.

Low Bros - Urban Spree

The two brothers deliver on the wall a multi-faceted vision of Brazil and the WM where the mythic Maracana stadium and the city of Rio itself are being surrounded by jaguars, wildlife, favelas, and where the vibrant brazilian spirit is diverse and united.

Look (The Weird/Peachbeach) x Low Bros

Painted near the back garden of Urban Spree in the Astra/Suicide Club passageway, and most likely to be seen by partygoers getting out from Suicide Circus in the early morning hours, ‘Hangover’s Hot Summer Nights’ is a collaborative piece between Look (Peachbeach/The Weird) and the Low Bros realized in June 2013.

The other half of Peachbeach, Vidam, was in the meantime sketching his piece with Rylsee, a mural that was  painted in the next few days in the Urban Spree Artist Wall (covered here).

Lars Wunderlich: What Are We Looking For?

Urban Spree Galerie presents “What Are We Looking For?“, a solo show of new works by Berlin-based visual artist Lars Wunderlich.

What Are We Looking For?” is a vertiginous exploration of our tech-dominated and image-centric world. Our global course to an endless progress, always more distant from the natural order, over-leveraging our resources, using ever-expanding technology to achieve a deeper exploration and understanding. But what are we really looking for? And do we understand better?

In this conceptual journey which is an acute exploration of modernity, Lars Wunderlich crafts and paints visual collages, replicates portraits generated by algorithms, integrates economic cycles, and juxtaposes different time elements which generate collisions, distortions and glitches, to better highlight the unreal nature of those representations and the danger thereof.

His paintings bear some similarities with the “New Leipzig School”, albeit with technology at the core, and aesthetics boosted by Artificial Intelligence and modern faux-semblants. They are representations of non-existing representations, real but fake, distorted, whether by time, space, speed, or truth. A perpetual collision of images.

“It Is And It Isn’t” – Acrylic on Canvas – 172 cm x 137 cm – 2019

Lars Wunderlich (b. 1981 in Neubrandenburg, GDR) is a German post-graffiti artist, member of the 9-member street art crew “The Weird” (Nychos, Low Bros, DXTR, Vidam…) under the moniker “Look the Weird”.

Besides spraypainting/wallpainting and graphic design, Lars is an accomplished painter. “What are we looking for?” is his first solo exhibition with Urban Spree Galerie.
