“Straight outta Lockdown / The Freedom Prints” is a series of vintage Mode 2 prints (from the mid 2000s to the early 2010s), hand-painted or hand-sprayed in 2020, and re-numbered in very limited runs.
We inaugurate this summer with a series of print releases from the Berlin-based graffiti “legend” (he HATES that term!) Mode 2.
Published originally by Pictures on Walls, Lazarides, MHI or Sergeant Paper, most prints sold out quickly, some runs were never released, and the artist recently came across much of these print archives that had been stashed away years ago; some from his personal quota and the rest returned by the publishers.
The idea came to release them again, though not without hand-finishing each series; even the ones that had already been through this process. Each print has therefore been custom-painted by Mode 2, to embellish the works with matching Belton spray colors or acrylic paint. Those HPMs have been re-numbered to create a new edition, with added aesthetic value and a marked difference from the original release.
The first print of the series is called “Sofa Spank”, originally released in 2010
The first series of 3 HPM prints will be available on Thursday, July 9th, at 18:00 CET on the Urban Spree online shop and in the galerie in Berlin.
Urban Spree Prints releases the first screen print of the Croatian-born, Berlin-based visual artist Marina Mika.
Mika’s illustrations are always hand-drawn and her universe is a composite world inspired by art nouveau, anime & manga, lores and fantasy.
Titled « Animal Spirit« , the hand-pulled screen print comes in a limited edition of 35, all signed and numbered by the artist. The print has been manually produced at Urban Spree on a Somerset 310g/sm paper and bears 2 deckle edges (the left and right sides of the paper have been torn on purpose to reveal the white structure of the paper through the black ink.
The print will be released this coming Wednesday 24.06 at 18:00 C.E.T. on the Urban Spree webstore and in our Berlin shop.
Urban Spree Prints and RAWS release a 5-colour screen print on the occasion of the first solo show of the German artist.
« Through the Slits » comes in a regular black edition of 80 prints printed in Berlin by Oliver Nerlich Siebdruck, signed and numbered by the artist. The size is 60 x 60 cm.
In addition to the regular edition, we are releasing a special hand-sprayed version. This 4-colour Special Edition has a red background and the middle slit gradient is individually sprayed by RAWS, making each print a unique variant. This run comes as an edition of 20 prints only.
You can purchase the screen print at Urban Spree Berlin during the exhibition (official launch at 19:00 on May 23rd, 2019) or order it on the Urban Spree website here for the regular edition and there for the Special Edition.
Urban Spree Prints and Stohead release this Friday « Brewing Out« , a 9-colour hand-pulled screen print based on a mural painted in 2014 by the Berlin-based artist in Linz, Austria. The mural is documented in the book « The Art of Writing Your Name« .
The print is a subtle rendition of a classic Stohead handstyle, morphing into a distillation/dissolution on the bottom of the print, announcing Stohead’s current artistic direction (liquid fumes).
The 60 x 60 cm print comes in a limited Regular Edition of 50 prints, signed and numbered by the artist. In addition, Stohead will produce a Special hand-sprayed Edition, in a limited run of 10 prints.
The prints will be available this coming Friday, May 3rd, 2019, at 17:00 on the Urban Spree website and in our Berlin Shop at the same time.
The print is based on a subsequent canvas painted by the artist after he completed the wall. Mother Drucker’s master printer, Dolly Demoratti, has chosen a complex, 9-colour version, to recreate the subtleness of the motive.
