From completely opposite cultural backgrounds, one is the son of a rich german industrial man and the other of a craftsman, Hans and André meet early in highschool. Their mutual love for Bowie and Kenneth Anger pushes them to flunk school and smoke in their tiny school movie room. There they dream of an ideal future, made of space travels and industrial music. Feeling the pressure from this private institution, they eventually decide to go to Berlin and see what taste has decadence there. They meet Marianne Katza, an excentric woman who tells them to come to an artist squat in Mitte district. As Warhol’s Factory, the place is an indistincte magma of ideas, musics and drugs. Here, as André begins to fiddle with a korg ms20 synth (he never told where he found the money to afford it) and dreams of exquisites performances, in another room, Hans tries to write his wildest nightmares to exorcise them. Marianne decides to introduce the future band to one of her lovers: Marc Berron, a young arrogant and rich kid blessed with a perfect ear. He helps them to slow down their drugs issues and take a new direction: to play a cold and personal music in pop format but with a feeling of urgency which caracterized young berliners. So he kidnaps them in his own studio for several weeks to experiment, give feelings and eventually find Violence Conjugale’s ultimate sound.

Arms and Sleepers, Sun Glitters, Rome in Reverse live

Urban Spree and pøj pøj present Arms and Sleepers, Sun Glitters, and Rome in Reverse live in Berlin at Urban Spree.

Arms and Sleepers is the Boston based music duo Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic. The group was formed in 2006 and has since released 18 albums and EPs, written music for film and TV, and performed live in Asia, Europe, and North America. Their latest album, “Swim Team Remixed”, a series of remixes from their LP “Swim Team”, is out on 09.02.2016.

Sun Glitters is the glitchy, summer obsessed, sun-drenched electronic project of Luxembourg musician Victor Ferreira. Debuting in 2011 with the acclaimed full-length, Everything Could Be Fine and a seemingly endless string of EPs, self-released tracks and remixes, Sun Glitters has quickly left a mark on the electronic music scene. In two short years, he has toured clubs and played festivals throughout Europe and received glowing coverage from Dazed & Confused, BBC, Resident Advisor, Earmilk, XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Guardian and a bevy of trend setting music outlets. Everything from the band name to the washed out pastels of the artwork to the engulfing visuals that supplement a Sun Glitters live performance screams nostalgia. With the release of his Mush debut, Scattered Into Light, Sun Glitters has taken on the added element of female vocals from Italian songstress Sara Cappai of the dream-pop band Diverting Duo. Sun Glitters combines an ocean of lush melodies, pitch-shifted vocal samples, digi-diva choirs, warm bass pulses, and ambient soundscapes into a blisteringly beautiful sound.

Rome in Reverse is the project of Antonella Pacifico, Elena Montomoli and Ambra Nobile, three italian musicians living in Copenhagen.
Although dance music loops are the foundation, Rome in Reverse try not to make boring, conventional songs: they are so enriched by the voice of Antonella that, with the support of sounds and features, tracks become dynamic and harmonious. Rome In Reverse hide fragments, like the constant beat and upbeat, reverbs and delays. They love digital tools but also include analog, as the warm notes of Elena’s guitar are wrapped in the sounds. Rome In Reverse loves visual art and minimal projections during concerts, that they get a shape thanks to Ambra. Music with visuals define the mood.

Art Bei Ton x Le Pas-Sage is a collaborative event between the Berlin-based event series, Art Bei Ton, mixing electronic music with visual arts, and Le Pas-Sage, a party crew from Paris.

This event is the occasion for us to gather together and create a unique vibe, listing to some great Techno, Ambient and Experimental lives and DJ sets, as well as enjoying visuals with VJing, video exhibition, and visual installation.

For this special occasion, we’ll project the Berlin premiere of the documentary « Sleep Comes Tomorrow » by Jérôme Clément-Wilz, who followed Le Pas-Sage for several months while they were looking for hidden places to organize rave parties.
We’ll also talk about « Rave party: how is the situation today in Paris, Berlin or Japan? » through a 30min panel.

Still focusing on curating an ethic and international line up, we mixed our Le Pas-Sage raver folks from Paris with our Art Bei Ton residents, as well as some great new faces.
On the main floor, we’ll have the pleasure to welcome two live performances from Jessica Kert (zv_k) and Adc-303, as well as Techno sets from Justine Perry, Otoko – 音庫, Mokavenko – MOKKA and Léa Occhi for her premiere in Berlin.
On the 2nd floor, we’ll start with an Ambient set from Vincenzo Albano, followed by Shintaro Yamaguchi, Ones. and Rorschach.

Not only sharing music, but visuals are also playing a big part in this night concept. A VJing performance from Sasha Smirnova will take over the main floor all night long. You’ll also find our unmissable video exhibition on 2000s TV, featuring the work of Lucy Williams, Sig Valax and Melle Skärfstad
Last but not least, a visual installation from ElCid VS will take place in the downstairs room.
