“Keep Smiling” is a 14-colour screen print based on the most iconic photograph of the Martha Cooper exhibition “One Week With 1UP” in a limited edition of 100 hand-pulled screen prints.
This highly technical art edition was crafted by Dolly Demoratti (Mother Drucker/Urban Spree Studios) and is released for the closing of the exhibition “One Week With 1UP” at Urban Spree Galerie.
In addition to the regular “Black Smiley” print, we offer 4 variations in a very limited run of 5 prints per edition: gold, chrome, mint, and pink.
The prints are available on the Urban Spree website here.
The screen-print produced for the Opening of the exhibition – “1UP Letters” – is still available here.
Urban Spree Prints will be releasing a silk screen print designed by Jan Kaláb on Saturday 24.11.2018 on the occasion of the czech artist’s book presentation and signing at Urban Spree Berlin.
Edited by Urban Spree Prints and masterly printed by Dolly Demoratti (Mother Drucker/Urban Spree Studio), the print is a 6-colour hand pulled screen print on Hahnemühle 300 g/sm paper and comes in a very limited edition of 18 prints, signed and numbered. The outer layer of the print is printed with a subtle green hologram glitter.
9 prints are reserved directly for the Berlin book event whereas 9 other prints are available by subscribing to the Urban Spree newsletter at the bottom of this page until Saturday 24.11.2018 at 12:00 (noon). Subscribers will be then informed about the ordering process.
Urban Spree Prints release 2 new screen prints on the occasion of “Balance”, the solo show of the Brussels-based duo Hell’O Collective at Urban Spree Galerie.
Both prints are 4-colour, 50×70 cm, hand-pulled, and printed at Urban Spree on Somerset 300 g/sm paper by Mother Drucker in a limited edition of 35 prints.
Both prints are available in Berlin at Urban Spree and online on our webstore. The exhibition of new paintings and drawings of the belgian duo goes on until 24.06 in our galerie space.
Starting on Friday 01.06 at 19:00, Urban Spree Galerie invites you to the Opening of “Balance“, a solo presentation of new works by the famed belgian duo Hell’O Collective in our main galerie space and their first solo show in Germany.
Running in parallel with their 10-year retrospective museum solo show at the BAM in Mons (“Enjoy the Show” at Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mons, Belgium, until 29.07.2018), “Balance” brings a brand new series of paintings on canvas and on paper to the Berlin audience.
For the Brussels-based duo, “Balance” reflects upon the constant search of the equilibrium between shape, color, and momentum in their painting practice and the need to achieve a new balance occurred as a renewed necessity after the hefty preparations for the museum show
Hell’O will also sign their new complete monograph “Untitled Oddyssey“, published in early May by CFC Editions.
Hell’O is a belgian artistic duo consisting of Antoine Detaille and Jérôme Meynen, active in murals as well as studio works and installations.
Several characteristics of their art indicate a filiation with the middle-age universe close to Jerome Bosch: an elegant and precise graphism, a taste for multiple, intertwined universes, and abundant references to a corpus of grotesque iconography, albeit perfectly mastered. Abstracted human bodies are among the many recurrent elements that are present in their paintings together with abstract, geometric signs, creating an overall rich personal mythology.
Urban Spree Prints will also release 2 screenprints specially made by the duo for the occasion.
Opening: Friday, June 1st, 2018 at 19:00
Exhibition: Tu-Su 12:00-19:00

Urban Spree invites our Brussels-based friends from LaVallée and Brussels Art Factory for a week-end long mini festival in Berlin focused around arts, music, workshops, and performances!
Opening on Friday 01.06, we start the evening with the Opening of “Balance”, a solo presentation of new works by the famed belgian duo Hell’o in our main galerie space. Running in parallel with their retrospective museum solo show at the BAM in Mons (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mons, Belgium), “Balance” brings a new series of paintings on canvas and drawings on paper to the Berlin audience. Hell’o will also sign their new monograph “Untitled Oddyssey”, published early May by Maison CFC – éditions & librairie. Urban Spree Prints will also release 2 screenprints specially made by the duo for the occasion.
The Brussels-based collectives Farm Prod and Ice Screen will display recent original works and prints in our Galerie “Ecke” and run various screen printing workshops during the weekend.
Fred Penelle & Yannick Jacquet from the collective Antivj will present “Mécaniques discursives”, an immersive installation mixing etchings, prints and video projections.

Urban Spree returns for the third consecutive year to the Paris Urban Art Fair
from 12th to 15th of April 2018.
We will be presenting a duo show with two Berlin-based artists represented by the gallery, Hendrik Czakainski (GER) and Tavar Zawacki (USA). Both artists will be present during the Fair.
One of the highlights of the Urban Spree booth will be the presentation of a triptych by Hendrik Czakainski (see below). This artwork in 3 framed panels has a size of 288 cm long by 160 cm high. The german artist is known for his 3D surreal visions of urban and industrial settlements, prone to chaos, uncertainty and destruction, however reaching a formal and hypnotic abstracted beauty.
Urban Spree Prints will also release a limited edition 15-colour screen print set of the triptych work, masterly crafted at the Urban Spree Studios by Dolly Demoratti. This release is exclusive to the fair and will be launched at the Opening.
Urban Spree will also be presenting 6 new medium-sized works on canvas (120 x 90 cm) by Tavar Zawacki aka ABOVE. A further step away from his iconic “arrow” motive towards geometric abstraction and hard-edged painting, Tavar’s new works are subtle trompe l’oeil and variations perfectly executed in a muted color range. We will also introduce a new series of resin cut-out works from the Californian artist.
Tavar will sign copies of his book Metamorphosis – published by Urban Spree Books in September 2017 – on Saturday 14.04 at 16:00 on the Urban Spree booth.
We will also show some calligraphic works on paper by Bisco Smith and Jonas “Sun7” Bournat.
