On January 17, 2020 the debut album SOAP of the Berlin band BOBBY RAUSCH will be released on Eighty Days Records. After concerts at the XJazz Festival Bobby Rausch returns to Berlin together with Springstoff, Musszo and XJazz to play the Record Release concert at Urban Spree on January 23rd, 2020.

SOAP sounds determined and clear, but never loses its closeness or dirt. The songs span the spectrum between Berlin club culture, underground and great scenic narration. While the force of the sound overcomes you, you still feel pleasantly secure in the unexpected tonal turns of the band. The Berlin DJ and producer DJ Illvibe (Peter Fox, Marteria, Seeed) is a feature guest on three SOAP tracks. This album lets you sweat only to wash your soul afterwards.

Automelodi is Montréal based producer and
songwriter Xavier Paradis, whose 2013 full-length
Surlendemains Acides remains one of the most well
produced and memorable synth-based works of the
modern era.

On March 30, 2018 Holodeck Records is
proud to reissue this evocative collection of songs on
LP, cassette and digital download. Delivered in
French, Automelodi is the result of Paradis’ passion
for analog electronics and devotion to brooding pop
sensibilities. Surlendemains Acides has been out of
print for several years, and now to the delight of
hardware enthusiasts and fans alike, this classic is
given a second life.

Paradis is a well-established figure in Montréal’s
dense electronic music culture, and Automelodi has
become one of the most innovative projects to come
out of the region that has produced pioneers like
Marie Davidson and Tim Hecker. Paradis shows the
exquisite ability to arrange with a careful ear for
texture, forming each song element with rich
expression and character. His process of composing
with analog synthesizers and drum machines like the
Moog MG-1 and the Roland TR-808 is used in
combination with field recorded “found sound”
allowing Paradis to write with a palate that is
aesthetically wide-ranging but chosen with precision.
Paradis’ persona as a weary romantic is at the heart
of Surlendemains Acides and extends well beyond
the studio. Paradis’ charm and sleek aesthetic
translate smoothly to his live show and music videos,
with swaggering stage presence and seductive
dance moves.

Automelodi is internationally recognized in
underground electronic circles as an artist of the
highest caliber with an inspiring but rare discography.
Holodeck is honored to work with Automelodi and
add Surlendemains Acides to its catalog.

LUMINANCE is a project of DA (also guitarist of band Soror Dolorosa), founded in Brussels in 2012 .
The music is a mix of new wave , synthpop , electronic with cold and cloudy vibes floating around it, inspired by cold wave, synthpop, post punk, and all kinds of music from the 80’s but definitely bathing in the present moment.
Echoing drums in the distance, vaporous winds bearing the old voices, here to guide us through the coldness of the city, towards the ancestral light.

Al Niklaus (𝔉𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔠𝔰) [Berlin]

Based in Berlin, Al Niklaus grew up in Paris where he evolved in the goth and punk scenes in his early teenage years.
After moving to Berlin almost 10 years ago, he discovered techno and noise music which have since completed his sets. Former DJ at Drone Berlin, a rhythmic noise and industrial techno event, he has since DJed at many wave and goth events such as TIQ Berlin and at industrial techno festivals.
Always expanding his playlist, Al Niklaus is versatile and a true chameleon, playing in turns wave, goth, noise, industrial, techno and EBM.

Now resident DJ at Tech Noire in Paris and Night Shift in Berlin since their inception, he is also one of the producers behind the projects.
He is also the co-president of 𝔉𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔠𝔰, an art collective that aims to promote subcultures and alternative music through the production of events, parties, concerts and festivals, and the representation of multifaceted artists.

Aurelia Dinamita (Trash Me / Dis/Tanz) [Berlin]

Dinamita: third person singular, present simple. The event promoter and DJ Aurelia Dinamita (Trash Me, Dis/Tanz) has been enabling controlled explosions through her wave and post-punk sets that can induce to unpredictable states of stomp-dancing.

Aurelia started setting up fundraising events at underground squats that were summits where post-punk and wave joint forces along with queer and feminist politics. So much so that Trash Me, an event which had its sibling in Madrid at Sala Maravillas, was where she established herself as a DJ together with Schatten Voraus, her partner at the decks. Eventually, Trash Me became a bigger concept together with Dis/Tanz, a collective that throws sexpositive feminist soliparties.

As Amperia, she buries souls with rough industrial sets. Under this moniker, she is in charge of Autopoiesis together with dj Vela, which takes place at another berliner time hole, the notorious ://about blank.

Aurelia, who was born in the southern suburbs of Madrid, not only performs and digs into the art of mixing, but is also a workshop teacher and a sound technician along with the Sound Systers.

…“After years of constant work on the development of his machines in February of ’37, Carlo Domenico manages to intercept anomalous audio/video electromagnetic waves. This important finding will be all that remains as a real testimony to his enormous work as a researcher and inventor. No other documents or inventions, to provide evidence of Carlo Domenico’s realisations, have so far come to light; including his much sought after secret diary and personal notes
Since 1939, news of him has become evermore a mystery. Some documents testify to his presence in various places at the same time, creating a sometimes confused map with many question marks but confirming his ability of physical and temporal bilocation,
At the end of August 2014, in Berlin, the existence of the briefcase containing the material intercepted in 1937, recorded on to VHS in the 70s, is casually discovered. And what is immediately clear is that Carlo Domenico Valyum in February 1937 had intercepted and further recorded electromagnetic waves coming from future Italian television broadcasts over a period of time between 1976 up until December 9, 1989, the day before his alleged death.
To date, all the documents are filed together along with the analogue copy under the title Dossier Carlo Domenico Valyum“.

T.RAUMSCHMIERE

Marco Haas started his musical career as an inventor.
First, he invented a framework, and then himself. Initially, the record company founded by him and Marcus Stolz in Heidelberg served as a mere vehicle for the recordings of his band “Stormbow”. It was the year 1997 and “Stormbow” was an eminently talented band with Marco Haas on drums – one of several eminently talented bands, however, to be found in Baden-Württemberg, the Palatinate, the Ruhr region. Unique, on the other hand, was that newly minted vehicle called “Shitkatapult”.
In 1998, Marco Haas relocated his life and label operations to Berlin – and to the world of electronic music, which he took into his dark heart and as an opportunity to rename himself after characters of a William S. Burroughs story: the Dreamcops, translated into 50’s German as “Traumschmiere” and marked for a new tomorrow by a smartly placed period. T.Raumschmiere was born, and a bold new chapter of electronic music from Berlin was being written. His first full-length releases on Shitkatapult were dedicated to the darkly charged traces of an electronic music that combined bass drum and ambient, snottiness and greatness: Stromschleifen (Shitkatapult, 2000), Zartbitter (Shitkatapult 2002). At the same time, some 12″es were spotted on Cologne’s Kompakt imprint: Boltzplatz (Kompakt 2000), Musick (Kompakt 2001). The latter were big rave news with a terrific sawtooth confidence, an iconized rock masculinity that didn’t only go all jolly and funny, but also big and serious.
On Kompakt, the real shit always pointed more towards Wolfgang Voigt, to the realm of inventions. In 2002, Marco Haas as T.Raumschmiere topped off this era with a milestone ambient double album on the it-label at the time, Chicago’s Hefty, rated artistically worthwhile and endowed with yet another clearcut name from the treasure chest of awesome inventions: Anti (Hefty 2002). Worldwide tours followed quickly.
And it’s precisely here that the next stunner drops: the man, not a studio nerd (although he is), but first and foremost an event beyond compare, a performer extraordinaire who puts rave and techno, rock and roll, live and crass and black and dark all into one word, one riff like never before, in an endless series of smashed tables, exploded mixing desks and open mouths. A star was born. Self-made and crazed-out. The whole shebang got consolidated on a Shitkatapult album, cobbled together from the most important material of the aforementioned releases and one ingenious claim: T.Raumschmiere – The Great Rock N Roll Swindle (Shitkatapult, 2003). A pretty big whopper in the techno circus.
Freak-outs ensued. Daniel Miller had to have it and T.Raumschmiere got signed on Novamute, the club outlet from London’s Mute label, which was just about to swim towards the EMI shark, or rather whale belly. T.Raumschmiere was in the right place at the right time, a big label with towering fellows such as Luke Slater, Plastikman, Speedy J, Motor, Cristian Vogel and so on and so forth. T.Raumschmiere scored a mega hit with Monstertruckdriver (Novamute, 2003) and became a staple in the line-ups of all the essential clubs and festivals.
But by the time his second Novamute full-length Blitzkrieg Pop (Novamute, 2005) came around, he was already sick of it and presented a dumbfounded audience with a rock-primed album full of songs and riffs that carved out their niche somewhere between Nick Cave, Nine Inch Nails and Bohren, also relaunching T.Raumschmiere as an actual live band.
Quite honestly, many were disapointed with the new rock paradigm and the tattooed insolence. Where’s our Sawtooth Rave King? It led right to the demise of EMI, a logical consequence among others. T.Raumschmiere released two more full-lengths on Shitkatapult… the dramatically underrated ambient masterpiece Random Noize Sessions Vol.1 (Shitkatapult, 2006), and his most-accomplished rock album I Tank U (Shitkatapult, 2008). But the fans were still demanding the “Monstertruckdriver” and a T.Raumschmiere trio bravely battled its way through gigs and tours. The next 5 years happened off-road, outside of the mainstream. And the ever-cooperating Marco Haas focussed on his studio work, especially for others such as Dieter Meier of Yello fame, Andreas Dorau, Fraktus, Ofrin or Barbara Morgenstern. In doing so, he also devotes himself to the depth of the technology and its systems. And constantly reinvents himself in the process.
In 2016, Shitkatapult sub label “Albumlabel” presented a pretty big ambient album without a tilte, which Haas recorded together with friend and colleague Ben Lauber (also known as drummer for the T.Raumschmiere band, Dendemann, Olli Schulz or as orchestral arranger and hero of projects). Marco Haas on a mission! Two full-lengths emerge from his collab with Ulli Bomans aka Schieres under the Shrubbn!! monicker (Echos, Shitkatapult 2012, and Europa, Shitkatapult 2016), alongside remixes for Dave Gahan, Warren Suicide or Apparat (for which Shrubbn!! also played support slots in Europe). A series of concerts with the exceptional Jazz/Noise guitarist Caspar Brötzmann (a collaborative 10″ will be released in April 2017 via Shitkatapult) furthered T.Raumschmiere’s steady quest for uncharted terrain. And didn’t exhaust the artist, but rather exploited full potential.
May 2017 will see Cologne’s Kompakt releasing his new, epic solo album called Heimat. Back to the roots – but also into heaven! This new full-length presents another side of T.Raumschmiere, which was always present, but never got much airtime: the artist, the author – the composer with the crystal-clear sound. A wonderful techno album that neither excludes Ambient, nor gets reduced to a constant ass kicking. It’s perhaps the best recording from this man who asks so deeply, so extensively, so much. And at some point even answers.

JD ZAZIE

Born in Bolzano (IT), JD ZAZIE is a DJ, avant-turntablist and sound artist based in Berlin. Coming from a DJ and a radiophonic background JD Zazie has explored over the years different approaches of real-time manipulation on fixed recorded sound.
In her work she redefines DJ and electroacoustic activities. As a solo performer, in small groups or large ensembles she moves in an area which is constantly stretching the borders of what is supposed to be DJ mixing, free improvisation and composed music.
Intended as music instruments CDjs, turntables and mixer are her tools to mix the specific sound-sources she plays (mostly electronic music, electroacoustic music, musique concrète, field recordings and improvised music).
The typology of the sound-sources varies from already existing audio publications and sound effects, to self recorded audio files – as live-set and field-recordings -, to selected pre-mixed material. Juxtaposition, decontextualization, fragmentation, repetition, sonic texture, scratch and error are elements of the grammar adopted to relate, organize and rearrange the sound material.
In her sound installations she explores everyday life, refers to urbanism and relates to sound atmosphere.
She is a member of the Italian label Burp Enterprise and co-runs Staalplaat Radio.

SALLY DIGE (DK/CAN)

Sally Dige is a multidisciplinary artist known for her darkly poetic yet highly danceable electro-pop songs, DIY stylistic videos, design and visual art.
Sally‘s deep and commanding voice, coupled with her analogue-visual-processes and overlapping artistic mediums has formed an identity that oscillates between the edges of aggression and fragility, old and new.

Holding On was created during the time of intense inner turmoil. Despite being stretched to her emotional limits, Sally did not let the weight of her circumstances break her, instead channeling all of her pain and fears into the production of a series of incredibly powerful songs.
Stunningly, Sally used only her voice and a single synth to create this album. Even with so little gear, the songs are anything but minimal. Each song has a minimum of 100 tracks and, for some songs, 100 tracks for just the drum section alone. Every audible sound has 20 other sounds swimming beneath it.
These are songs written for dance floors but are sung about loneliness, death and the meaninglessness of existence. Sally‘s work tows the line between a blissful innocence and a heavy darkness. Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministry‘s lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up.

Holding On is Sally‘s second album, following her debut Hard to Please, out on Avant! in Europe and DKA in North America, with two separate cover designs.

Filastine&Nova present Drapetomania

Filastine & Nova present their new album “Draptomania” (Jarring Effects) for the first time in Berlin.

Filastine & Nova are a multimedia duo working to undermine borders. Their music collides electronic beat production with dense layers of voice, concréte sounds, analogue synths and strings. Spin magazine calls it “bass music for crumbling urban futures,” and Pitchfork says “they sound less like `world’ music and more like music from another world.” Another world is exactly what they aim to create, using sound, video,design, and dance to express a radically different vision of the possible.

Filastine is the handle of Barcelona-based composer and video artist Grey Filastine. A former taxi driver from the United States, Filastine studied percussion with the coke-fueled carnival batucadas of Brazil and mystical brotherhoods in Morocco. In 1999 he founded the Infernal Noise Brigade marching band, putting these rhythms to use in a live soundtrack for the Seattle WTO revolt and the globalization protests that followed. DJ/Rupture discovered and released Filastine’s premiere album, Burn It! (2006), launching a decade of critically-acclaimed albums and world tours. One of those tours brought him to Jakarta where he met vocalist Nova Ruth, rhyming in Indonesia’s seminal rap group Twin Sista. Nova’s deep musical roots add much to Filastine’s sound; she was raised singing pentecostal spirituals with her priest grandfather, reciting Quran, and playing Javanese gamelan percussion. Beyond music, Nova’s continues her “day job” building networks among Southeast Asia’s video activists and hackers.

Together they create unique and fearless interventions: an official mixtape for The Act of Killing documentary, a sound swarm at the Paris Climate Summit, a performance in the Calais Jungle migrant camp. Their latest effort, Abandon, is a video series profiling dances of emancipation from work, filmed in locations from coal mines in Borneo to office cubicles in America. The songs of Abandon and a grip of other new tracks will come out this year on the duo’s first full album together, Drapetomania, colliding psychedelic trap, tropical post-folk and a punk ethos into a compelling audio thesis.

Filastine & Nova are foremost performing artists, their live show is where sound, image, and ideas are embodied. They’ve toured the five continents, appearing at festivals such as Sonar (ES), Downtown Cairo Arts (EG), Decibel (US), Les Vieilles Charrues (FR), Foreign Affairs (DE), Mona Foma (AU). For the new Drapetomania performance the duo are working with a guest dancer and cinematic multi-screen visuals to conjure an emergency exit from the anthropocene. Expect to find them anywhere, turning friction into beauty.
