Dj Andi Stetcher aka Schladi Schladez (Berlin)

Mayo-Ra (Spaghetti Western)
Send the Friend (Thessaloniki)
NESTA (PT)
Jimmy Trash (AUS)

Freak de l’Afrique is a Berlin based collective of Djs, Mcs and dancers who share a passion for modern African Club sounds. They are an energy EXPLOSION and full of legendary creatives and have worked alongside Goethe Institute and Redbull to be able to tour East Africa and Europe and spread their floor burning vibes.

Conjunto Papa Upa is the latest band by “The Hardest Working Man in Tropical Music” Alex Figueira (Fumaça Preta, Music With Soul, VintageVoudou), alongside percussion meister Gerardo Rosales. Papa Upa is a latin rhythm machine, dipping into the grooviest parts of Venezuelan Afro, Salsa and Carribean heritage and then wrung through the psychedelic and dj culture processor you can expect from a Names You Can Trust band.

Scúru Fitchádu
Mixing anti-colonial punk politics, live and programmed drums and exceptional stage shows with the ancient rhythms of funana, the outlawed and ancient music from Cabo Verde, Scuru Fitchadu feels like Death Grips if they grew up inthe island pennisula…..It’s their first gig in Berlin and we are honoured to host them.

Mfa Kera with Mike Russell and Black Heritage
Some years ago I was digging in Amsterdam and found an amazing LP with an astonishing face of the artist on the front cover. It was the amazing Mfa Kera, who I interpreted to be something like a Madagascan answer to Nina Hagen…. and it quickly became my favourite new wave album of all time. A little investigation found she was living in Berlin, and still going very strong with many musical and artistic projects. I’ll post more of this story later but for now, I am BURSTING to present to our Trashfest audience, MFA KERA will be performing with a full afrobeat band!!!

Conjunto Vaya Nacho This Band is based on the affection of Colombian Vallenato Music. Rocking an accordeon, bass, 1973 drum machine and guest singers, we are very happy to have these locals join us.

j.do Rio aka João Xavi
I have a perverse pleasure in the wild in-yo-face electric boogaloo of 80s-90s Baille Funk and Miami Bass, so I personally invited specialist J.do Rio aka João Xavi of Batuque Lowfi. He has made a mix just for us, listen and wig out and understand how fun this will be in the Urban Spree basement on the night of Trashfest !!!

Dj Anacaona is also a Venezuelan émigré to Berlin’s tropical music scene with connections to the La Regla Party here. After being in all of the rebellious music scenes of vibrant Caracas; Hardcore, Reggae, Hip Hop – she brings the same attitude to her heavy bomb salsa mixes which you have to hear to believe.

Dj Andi Stetcher (Schladi Schladez)
Andi Stecher is an austrian born and berlin based drummer and electronic musicia and DJ Andi Stechers music is not drawn to one specific genre. He refers to a variety of styles of music in his pieces and therefore forms a very unique hybrid sound. His music is often interspersed with polyrhythmic elements, field recordings, coupled with drones, subbass, analog electronics and electroacoustic elements.

We are deeply indebted to Musicboard Berlin for helping us to set up this incredible event, as well as our longterm partners Urban Spree.

Agent Side Grinder + Future Section

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Agent Side Grinder (SWE) live -> Listen

Sweden’s electronic giants Agent Side Grinder are back with their fifth album “A/X”. This is the first record with their new singer Emanuel Åström and the follow-up to the award-winning
album “Alkimia” from 2015.

From “A/X” we have been treated with two singles: “Doppelgänger” and “Stripdown”. The latter quickly became an underground hit and has been frequently played on Swedish National Radio this winter. It was named “song of the year” in Release Magazine, Synth.nu,
Synthguiden and Elektroskull to name a few. Well-known music journalist Fredrik Strage praised the song on TV4, National morning TV.

The singles introduced a more electronic and danceable sound, but all the elements that have made ASG a genre standout are intact on “A/X”: Metallic beats, infectious basslines, sweeping synth melodies and extremely strong tracks.

“A/X” holds 9 tracks produced by Jon Bordon and contains guest appearances by Gustav Bendt (Club Killers) and the Danish-Canadian coldwave-singer Sally Dige.

Figure Section (BEL) live
– first time live in Germany –
www.figuresection.bandcamp.com
“Figure Section arose from the meeting of Austrian-born musician and actress Olivia Carrère and Belgian industrial / experimental music & techno activist Yannick Franck (⊹ RAUM ⊹, Orphan Swords, Mt Gemini) in Brussels on a theatre stage.

Instantly connecting on a deep level, they quickly became inseparable, unveiling a strange kind of creative euphoria. First composing scores for plays and performances, they found out about their common passion for Cold Wave and Synthpop and getting started as a duo became an obvious thing. Deeply rooted in these genres, the band injects an idiosyncratic, modern spirit into it. Their recurring themes are civilizational and moral decay and the search for inner survival.

Their first Single “Teutonic Knights” which was featured by The Brvtalist, it generated a lot of enthusiastic reactions among the public. The webzine described it as ”infectious wave with an eerie atmosphere and frigid vocals”.

On the occasion of this German debut, Figure Section will introduce their brand new EP.”

Siglo XX live in Berlin (Farewell Show)

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Siglo XX (BE) live
– for the first time in Berlin since over 30 years and for the last time ever –

DJS:

a.e.schatten (coinciDANSES / Bremen)
Jürgen Jakob (Cold Beat Berlin)
robertianjim (The Red Room / Hamburg)

“40 years ago punk was taking Belgium by storm. Just about anyone could grab an instrument and start pounding away on it. And that’s exactly what we did in our neighbourhood in Genk with Siglo XX, which is the name of a mine in Bolivia by the way, but we chose it mainly because we thought the Xs were so cool. We kept on doing this for 13 years: making music, over and over again, different every time, but always true to ourselves, stubborn, defying trends and great expectations. We recorded albums that sold internationally and we toured Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Hungary. For some reason we struck a chord with a broader audience and they kept on following us through the years – and still do – and they’ve been joined by a younger crowd that is catching on to us through the Internet. Because 40 is quite a respectable age, Onderstroom Records is re-releasing the first three Siglo XX 12-inches, remastered but with the original artwork. These records, which have become collector’s items over the years, will be available separately and in a boxed edition.”

New Screen Print Release with Stohead

Urban Spree Prints and Stohead release this Friday “Brewing Out“, a 9-colour hand-pulled screen print based on a mural painted in 2014 by the Berlin-based artist in Linz, Austria. The mural is documented in the book “The Art of Writing Your Name“.

The print is a subtle rendition of a classic Stohead handstyle, morphing into a distillation/dissolution on the bottom of the print, announcing Stohead’s current artistic direction (liquid fumes).

The 60 x 60 cm print comes in a limited Regular Edition of 50 prints, signed and numbered by the artist. In addition, Stohead will produce a Special hand-sprayed Edition, in a limited run of 10 prints.

The prints will be available this coming Friday, May 3rd, 2019, at 17:00 on the Urban Spree website and in our Berlin Shop at the same time.

The print is based on a subsequent canvas painted by the artist after he completed the wall. Mother Drucker’s master printer, Dolly Demoratti, has chosen a complex, 9-colour version, to recreate the subtleness of the motive.

Basement Bash Vol.XVII – Headliner: LeVent

Basement Bash returns for its 17th edition – and this time including some surprises. Stay tuned!

————–

LeVent
Like a drunken driver, LeVent swerves up over the curb, drives straight through the garage and total their ride somewhere out in a goat farm. Bleating at it’s most danceable, they carry listeners far away to get lost in nice nonsense, stuck in heavy forgetting, and transfixed on what was, leaving you thirsty for more. LeVent started playing live in late 2015, shared the stage with a bunch of talents including Kadavar, The Underground Youth, Die Nerven and Preoccupations, to name a few, and evolved into one of the most interesting acts on Berlin’s underground scene. In June 2017, they released their debut album on a recordings ltd., the label of Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre (who also co-produced the album with Andrea Wright from Parr Street Studios Liverpool), and supported The Brian Jonestown Massacre in Germany, Austria & Switzerland in 2018.

“No compromise are exactly what Berlin punk band The Indian Queen are about, except that they didn’t bother with the bass guitar. Everything has been scraped bare and left to fend for itself.”- Indieberlin

Blind Delon, H ø R D, Leere live + after party Herzschlag

BLIND DELON

Founded in 2016 by Mathis Kolkoz and after releasing several works on Oráculo Records / Bordello A Parigi and some DJ sets around Europe, Blind Delon raised to a multi-art project (3 musicians and a visual composition by the french artist AFB).

With their heads and bags filled with synthesizers from a time they weren’t even born, the band can be found today between a record shop and a cave rave, looking for an aesthetic that is nowhere near dying. Post-Synthwave might be the best words to qualify the project, as the music is a sort of breed between outrageous Pop and cold basslines.

Building a bridge between Pop and Rave music, Blind Delon is making a NOT conventional yet romantic Post-Punk sound.

H ø R D

H ø r d creates electronic music inspired by coldwave, soundtracks, fantasy movies, oscillating between epic compositions, EBM and techno pulse, and also more contemplative tracks.

After performances on his own musical territory, he gradually came to the European synth wave scene, signing a remix for Winter Severity Index (Rome) and performing live in Germany (Wave Gotik Treffen), Belgium, Czech Republic, Swiss, Malta, Italia, Austria, Spain.

His first album “Focus on light” was released 2016 on Anton Maiiovi’s label Giallo Disco Records, and sold out 6 weeks later.
In 2017, his third EP «Futures» is out on Sacred Court, label of electronic artist SNTS.

His upcoming second LP will be out in Avant! Records in September, 2018.

«The label Giallo Disco Records have described the music as “Reverb-Soaked Urban-Gothic Melancholic songs, between synth-shoegaze and violent EBM,” and believe the album will “will resonate strongly with fans of Pornography-era The Cure, Joy Division and classic Nine Inch Nails.” To our ears we hear strains of early Tropic of Cancer and dare we say Pet Shop Boys, and overall, as you’ll be able to tell from the album preview below, it’s a well informed reincarnation of what makes the synth, minimal and no wave genres so appealing today.» JUNO DOWNLOAD (2016)

LEERE

We come from nowhere and move towards emptiness.
Leere is an introvert musical project, trying to express and fill the emptiness inside us. The use of analog and digital sounds of the 80s and the integration of sounds from Berlin, the city that influences her and her music strongly, helps her with that hard task.
