On Friday August 15th 2014, Urban Spree, Urban Nation, Mobile Kino & W – Doubleyou team up to bring you an exceptional event with the open air projection of Everybody Street, a fascinating documentary on New York City street photography featuring some of Urban Spree’s all-time favorite photographers such as Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Joel Meyerowitz, and legendary graffiti & hip hop photographer Martha Cooper.
If you are familiar with the Urban Spree bookstore concept, you know that our hand-picked selection of photobooks is all about street photography, postindustrial sites, urban decay, street art and the underground… So, when Mobile Kino came with the idea of an outdoor screening of this great documentary about NYC street photographers, we were thrilled with the idea, mostly that the film happily blends the genre between street photography in its documentary/classical way with the street art/graffiti scene.
Both the film director –Cheryl Dunn, and Martha Cooper will be exceptionally present for the screening and thereafter.
Cheryl Dunn, who has been documenting the streets of NYC for over two decades, will address the audience through a Q&A session.
1300 images of Martha Cooper will be projected on different screens in a unique gallery installation.
Martha Cooper’s pioneering book (co-authored with Henry Chalfant), ‘Subway Art’, will be available in the bookshop.

After the Wall and the Print Exhibition, the Broken Fingaz Crew show revolves around a multi-layered analog 3D woodcut installation which is a tour de force of pop iconography, taking some elements of the wall, continuing the narrative, adding complex layers, décors, characters, signs, therefore composing an awe-inspiring masterpiece. The installation was produced over a full 2-week period by the whole collective, entirely in Berlin in the Urban Spree complex, and only with found materials. This is their largest to date installation and a landmark art piece in the street art world.

For their first show of 2020, Urban Spree Galerie presents « WALLS », a collective exhibition featuring 30 international artists.
Expanding the historical timeline and geographical scope beyond the Fall of the Berlin Wall 30 years ago, « WALLS » explores the notion of the wall, from Antiquity to contemporary issues, viewed through the lens of artists committed to the public space and whose work is closely related to walls.
Curated by Fabrice Douar and Cyrille Gouyette (Le Louvre Museum, Paris) and co-curated by Pascal Feucher (Urban Spree Galerie, Berlin), « WALLS » invites prominent artists from the comics & street art scenes to create graphic works of fiction related to walls, interpreted either as simple architectural elements, ominous symbols of segregation, canvases and vessels to convey meaning, textures, or imaginary playgrounds and labyrinths.
While some antique artefacts appear in the show to testify of their immortal, silent presence, in the 21st Century, the Minotaur doesn’t wait at the center of his realm but has clearly moved outside, demultiplied its presence, and is building more walls.
The exhibition’s direction is therefore resolutely multifaceted, contemporary and graphic-oriented, spanning several topographies (Europe, South Korea, Middle East, Hong Kong, Cuba…), and art forms (painting, photography, installations, videos).
30 Artists: Alias, Andreas, Jim Avignon, Bault, Enki Bilal, Broken Fingaz Crew, Isaac Cordal (installation), Hendrik Czakainski, Christian Durieux, Philippe Écharoux (mapping installation), EVOL, Jean Faucheur, Flix, Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada, Miles Hyman, Kim Jung Gi, Levalet, Stéphane Levallois, Loustal, Marc-Antoine Mathieu, Mode2, Alexandra Novosseloff, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, Michal Škapa, Pen So, Thom Thom, Sam Tse, Santiago Valenzuela, Lars Wunderlich, Zevs.
