Yuto Yamada: Berlin/Tokyo II

Urban Spree Galerie presents ‘Berlin/Tokyo ll’, a photographic exhibition by Berlin-based Japanese photographer Yuto Yamada, opening on 17.11.2017 in our Galerie Ecke.

Berlin/Tokyo ll opens on the same night as Victor Ash’s 10-year Anniversary of the Astronaut Cosmonaut wall and will run until 10.12.2017.

Berlin and Tokyo are the two favorite topics of urban photographer Yuto Yamada and the subject of this exhibition one year after presenting his “Berlin/Tokyo” series at Urban Spree: Berlin as the city where he now lives and works since several year and the city of his childhood and youth, Tokyo.

In his ongoing series ‘Berlin/Tokyo’ he takes us on a journey to the dirty, abandoned side of Berlin with all its graffiti, destruction and decay, in absolute contrast with the modern and shiny photos of Tokyo’s illuminated cityscape, a stunning and surreal opposition.

‘BERLIN / TOKYO II’ is a photographic journey and modernist tale of two apparently opposed metropolises, the hi-tech Tokyo and the lo-fi Berlin.

Urban Spree Galerie presents ‘Berlin/Tokyo’, a photographic exhibition by Berlin-based Japanese photographer Yuto Yamada, opening on 18.11.2016 in our Galerie Ecke.

Berlin and Tokyo are the two favorite topics of urban photographer Yuto Yamada and the subject of this exhibition one year after presenting his “Berlin Raw” series at Urban Spree: Berlin as the city where he now lives and works since several year and the city of his childhood and youth, Tokyo.

In his ongoing series ‘Berlin Raw’ he takes us on a journey to the dirty, abandoned side of Berlin with all its graffiti, destruction and decay, in absolute contrast with the übermodern and shiny photos of Tokyo’s illuminated cityscape, a stunning and surreal opposition.

‘BERLIN / TOKYO’ is a photographic journey and modernist tale of two apparently opposed metropolises, the hi-tech Tokyo and the lo-fi Berlin.

Yuto Yamada: Berlin/Tokyo

Berlin-based photographer Yuto Yamada has two favorite objects for his camera: Berlin and the city where he comes from: Tokyo.

In his ongoing series ‘Berlin Raw’ he takes us on a journey to the dirty abandoned side of Berlin with all its graffiti, destruction and decay. This a total contrast to his otherwise very futuristic and shiny photos of Tokyo’s illuminated skyscrapers with a neo Tokyo style. And it is exactly this contrast that is the appeal for Yuto Yamada.

‘BERLIN / TOKYO’ is a photographic journey and modernist tale of two apparently opposed metropolises, the hi-tech Tokyo and the lo-fi Berlin.

Night Shift ft. Peine Perdue

𝔉𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔠𝔰 presents: Night Shift
SATURDAY, JUNE 30TH, 2018
23H30 – 06H00+
URBAN SPREE

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The sun comes down and with it the day shift comes to an end. It is time for the night shift to take over.

Creatures of the night, replicants, angelic faces and spectators hungry for strangeness give themselves to the carefreeness of the 80s in a club turned for a night into a house of the underground.

2 rooms, 4 DJs, 1 live concert, 3 drag performers, 2 shows.
On the program: Peine Perdue LIVE, Drag Shows, New Wave, Synthpop, Dark Wave, Goth, Minimal Wave, EBM, Post-Punk, Italo-disco and Retro Wave over two floors.

For its fourth edition, Night Shift celebrates the summer with the darkest cast of international performers.
The live stage will be taken over by friends of Forensics collective, having performed at Tech Noire, our sister party in Paris: Peine Perdue.

An emblematic duo of the French minimal wave scene, Peine Perdue has since 2011 been spreading a melancholic universe rooted in cinematographic phantasmagoria, streamlined electronic architectures and a spectral romantic vein. Over five albums (released on the labels Kernkrach, Cold Beats and Medical Records, Electronic Emergencies) and four tours that led them all over Europe and to Russia and Canada, Stéphane Argillet’s cold and synthetic compositions (also member of the group La Chatte), carried by the enigmatic and sensual texts of Coco Gallo have created a universe of its own and immediately recognizable.
Peine Perdue will be sharing their new album “Tokyo” for the first time in Berlin.

At the DJ booths, our resident DJs Al Niklaus and Inept Pernicious will be joined by two special guests.
A staple of industrial and noise music, producer and head of the prominent rhythmic noise party Drone Berlin: A/ONA; and producer and resident DJ of minimal and goth emblematic party TIQ Berlin: Licia.
They will take you back to the sweet effervescence of the 80s with New Wave, Synthpop, Dark Wave, Goth, Minimal Wave, EBM, Post-Punk, Italo-disco and Retro Wave beats.

On the drag stage, our hostess Ghōst will be joined by two very special guests: all the way from Manchester, the greyscale Goddess of the House of Gorgeous: Liquorice Black; and our very own bearded delight: Bambi Mercury. They will bring you the most extravagant show you have ever seen and bring you the darkness every goth much needs in these summer times.

Night Shift is a LGBT+, hetero-inclusive bimestrial event.

We pride ourselves on being a safe space for LGBTQIA+ individuals, their allies, and women: our team consists predominantly of female-identified and queer-identified folks.
All of our DJs and our drag performers are individuals who identify as being part of a counter-culture and our drag shows also fall under the umbrella of our music genres for a complete immersive experience
