Seit sie im Jahr 2015 unter den industriellen Abgasen der niederländischen Hafenstadt Rotterdam das Licht der Welt erblickten, haben Dool unbestreitbar ihre düsteren Spuren in der europäischen Dark-Rock-Szene hinterlassen. Nachdem sie aus der Asche von The Devil's Blood und Elle Bandita aufgestiegen sind, hat sich diese Meute das gemeinsame Ziel gesetzt, kreative Evolution und spirituellen Aufstieg zu erreichen. Diese Weiterentwicklung zeigte sich zuletzt deutlich auf dem 2020er Album „Summerland“, das sowohl von Fans, als auch von Kritikern abgefeiert wurde.
Im Winter 2014 gründete sich das Trio Adam Bufano, Elias Schutzman und Multiinstrumentalist Dave Cavalier aus Baltimore als Black Lung. Die Band hob sich schnell von dem überfüllten Feld der Psych-Doom- und Heavy-Blues-Bands ab, indem sie auf einen Bassisten verzichtete und stattdessen das Rückgrat ihres Sounds im Wechselspiel von fuzzgetränkten Gitarren, tiefen, treibenden Schlagzeugbeats und Cavaliers rauem, bluesgeschwängertem Gesang fand.
Für das neue Album hat sich die Band dazu entschlossen, die Konvention des Power-Trios hinter sich zu lassen und den Bassisten Mac Hewitt (ex-The Flying Eyes) in den Mix aufzunehmen. Produziert von J. Robbins und abgemischt von Kurt Ballou (Mitglied von Converge und Grammy-Gewinner für High On Fire), erschien im Mai 2022 mit „Dark Waves“ das neue Album auf Heavy Psych Sounds Records.
