Dune Messiah live in Berlin

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Dune Messiah (DK) live

Copenhagen folk-noir artist Dune Messiah unfolds a universe of dark romance. Through emotional lyrics, songwriter Magnus Westergaard examines the shadows of existence, while a boundary-seeking instrumentation oscillates between the violent and the fragile.

Dark and mature Dune Messiah zones in on the sound of naked sincerity. Honest musical tales of love, loss and mysticism, drawing on sources of inspiration such as Leonard Cohen, Death in June and Nick Cave. On stage, Dune Messiah is an intense experience provided by drummer Lee Thomas, guitarist Andreas Bengtsen and keyboardist Lisa Jespersen, while Magnus Westergaard presents the catchy tunes on acoustic guitar and vocals.

In 2019 Dune Messiah released his second studio album ‘Moments of Bliss’ on French Third Coming Records and German aufnhame + wiedergabe. In this regard he has been on a long tour through Europ and the first single ‘Silence and Surrender’ was played extensively on national radio, where Magnus Westergaard was also interviewed. At the start of 2020, Dune Messiah will take on another tour leading them through England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Denmark.

Felines • Jealous • Meek One • Burned Dorado

Felines (Burger Records) LIVE + Jealous LIVE
+ AFTERPARTY w/ MEEK ONE (Camera) + BURNED DORADO
+++

Some may know Felines in their previous incarnation as an all-girl trio – Ditte Melgaard on guitar, Mei-Long Bao on drums and Asta Louisa Bjerre on bass – playing fun-seeking garage rock with a retro twist. The group cut their teeth in the Copenhagen underground and released a few singles and their debut album on cool international labels such as the German Soundflat Records and Burger Records in the US. Since then the band spent time in Paris re-working some of their music for a Saint Laurent fashion show and did a sound track for the Danish youth movie “Threesome”. Since then… silence.

But no more. Felines are now a quartet having added Kristian Bønløkke on synth. Even though their garage roots are still noticeable in the edgy guitar sound, Felines have evolved into a lo-fi, hi-hopes combo playing pop songs with a laid-back charm and seemingly effortless ease. Their sweet-talking, experimental-emotional CPH blues has a sound that lands somewhere between ESG, The Breeders and Delta 5. They bring a sense of flow and fun, which gives them a sound of their own.

They recently released their new EP Saying It Twice Makes It Real on vinyl and digital release on the Danish label Crunchy Frog and on cassette tape on the legendary US label Burger Records.

Some Ember / Lunacy / Offermose

Third Coming Records presents :

Some Ember (Dreamwave/Berlin)
https://someember.bandcamp.com/

::: Submerging The Sun LP release celebration :::

SUBMERGING THE SUN, the second LP by Some Ember, is a journal of climatological grief, intimate vulnerability, and transcendental sadness. Self-produced by songwriter Dylan Travis, the record’s sparse arrangements are weighted by bleak ambience and dramatic vocal turns.
Icy synthesizers pierce veils of fog-like drones, delivering sorrow and catharsis. Tides of dissonance ebb to reveal glittering mirages of
hope, which are just as soon swept away.

Long a fixture of the Oakland, CA musical underground, Some Ember has seen many forms – a solo dream pop bedroom project, a four-piece goth rock outfit, then a hardware-based synth duo, and back again.

Following cassettes on Crash Symbols, Night-People and Ascetic House, the band released their first LP on Dream in 2014 and toured extensively.

In 2015, Travis and longtime collaborator Nina Chase made the move to Berlin. After a tumultuous two years (which saw a further cassette released on Dream, “DEBTS OF LOVE”), the band will release SUBMERGING THE SUN on Third Coming Records in November 2018.

LUNACY (Darkwave/Noise/Philadelphia)
https://lunacy.bandcamp.com/

« This is a sonic walk-through of landscapes that no longer exist. This is the drip of electronic water on memories of something deep in rooms without a view. Echoes of human activity resonating in the factory chapel, the walls and sentiments covered with moss. » -Roy Montgomery

« As haunting as their songs are, they are beautiful. With each listen this project takes you to a deep, dark, murky place where sound has the power to change your reality! » – CVLT Nation

« A slow burner, distorted and obscure, visionary and obsessive, Lunacy’s distinctive sonic craftsmanship will crawl under your skin and linger and “sediment” in your mind indefinitely. » – White Light//White Heat

Offermose (Dungeon Synth/Copenhagen)
https://offermose.bandcamp.com/

« I saw the seasons change like stages of putrefaction in my decaying flesh Spring came darkest of all sprouting death-like flowers through puss-filled pores Silent screams choked by earth echoed in my skull from a thousand dead Bodies buried deep below forever suffocating in their final breath »

Worn Pop in Berlin: Super Besse (BY) + label residents showcase

« Worn Pop is a music organization based in Kiev and was formed by Nikita Netrebko in 2013 to develop Ukrainian coldwave movement by doing shows with guests from abroad, as well as managing and releasing artists coming from the local scene. Their first releases was produced in 2014 on cassettes and CD’s and were basically full DIY from recording at home till cutting cassette tape and assembling them back and were selling mostly offline. Later they stretch their genre palette a lot, but saved own image where all artists in rooster or line-up fit each other by mood and overall atmosphere. Being concentrated mostly on booking shows in 2015 – 2017 Worn Pop became well-known in Ukraine and through out some music scenes in Europe, so time has come for coming back to releasing. The residents of the label go on tour dedicated to their new releases in August of 2018 through Kiev, Lviv, Berlin, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Kalabalik Pa Tyrolen in Sweden. »

Age Eternal, Dune Messiah

Instruments of Discipline, Third Coming Records & Premium Abundance present :

Age Eternal (DE) – Release party –
https://ageeternal.bandcamp.com/

Age Eternal is the solo project of german musician and visual artist Lissa Benno. Since 2015, she has been diving into the subconscious to find her own musical language. With reverb-drenched guitars, hypnotic synths and ethereal vocals she creates a dreamy yet heavy haze. Her influences come from a wide variety of musical styles such as Ambient or Krautrock while she is also drawn to pop-music and mysticism.

« Wash Away » is a meditation about change as an universal force that is both fulfilling and terrifying. « Before and throughout the writing of the record I saw myself confronted with significant alterations in my daily life, which I sometimes had a hard time dealing with » says Lissa. The record bows down to that mighty ruthless force that is entrenched into everyone and everything that surrounds us and the potential that lies within it.

This LP is co-released by Third Coming Records (fr), Instruments Of Discipline (de), Premium Abundance (dk).

Dune Messiah (DK)
https://dunemessiah.bandcamp.com/

The man in black fled across the dessert, and the gunslinger followed. With those words, Stephen King begins his Magnum Opus, The Dark Tower. But the phrase might as well be a graphical, description of the neofolk band Dune Messiah.

Hailing from Copenhagen, the three-piece, which is architectured by Magnus Westergaard, shoots through its listener with visceral honesty. Dark, romantic and personal, the band bares itself completely, engulfing the listener in candid stories of love, loss and mysticism told with both finesse and violence.

Dune Messiah released their debut album, The Iron Oak, in March 2017. On the following tour in Europe and Denmark, the band supported American neofolk pioneer King Dude and Drab Majesty.

On stage, Dune Messiah is a blazing, intense experience. Inspired by all forms of art that deals in immuteability (from Leonard Cohen to Edgar Allan Poe and Federico Fellini), the band inescapably channels its demanding themes. It is both terrifying and beautiful to behold.

But no matter the wickedness displayed live, the monstrosities enforced by the instruments or the heartbreaking truths told through the lyrics, Dune Messiah’s raison d’être is to capture and project honesty. A concept that, like the man dressed in black, fleetingly runs ahead in this barren, truthless world.

RA (SE)
https://ramalmo.bandcamp.com/

The four creative souls in RA get their energy out of despair, loss, frustration and restlessness. They started out as a psychedelic rock quintet but after just one EP they sadly lost one of their members. The loss and their life in Malmö are shown in the, recently released mini documentary – RA – Malmö Mentality. The band didn’t dissolve, instead they canalized their friendship into what should become their debut album – Scandinavia. The album is a whirlwind of punk, feedback, haunting vocals, melodic guitar riffs and pounding bass. The album took the band out on the road and it gained a lot of attention around the world, placing them in some kind of Nordic Noir Post-punk file, together with iceage, Holograms, Lust For Youth etc. Other comparisons were made to Deafheaven, Bauhaus, and A Place to Bury Strangers, now that is gone.

Here we have the first release since the album, and the band has moved forward. This is a more electronic sound landscape, it is gloomy, it is staring, slower, melodic, almost romantic but equally intense. We find more members than the drummer and vocalist Simon, behind the microphone, more voices, less noise, contemplation. This is a band that never rests. All held together by producer Joakim Lindberg that has produced everything with the band up to date.

”We left our rough punk sound and tried to explore another feeling, a more romantic feeling. We gave ourself time to think and reflect and worked more with the song structures.”

DJ sets by Louis X Legris (Third Coming Records) & Luna Violenta (Instruments Of Discipline).
