The Krake weekend kicks off on FRIDAY daytime at Urban Spree with the legendary Krake Label Boutique, a small record fair bringing together Berlin’s underground music labels with around 50 imprints displaying and offering their work in the beautiful outside area. Next to DJ sets and surprise performances rounding off the day, the raffle, which has taken place for the last two years, is a chance to win electronic music production equipment and cool stuff once again!

The night opens with « The Quest for a Real Hardhob« . Originally shown at this year’s Berlinale, the silent animated movie on the dystopian sci-fi tip is completed by a live score from Andrew Millington on drums and cello, and Dave Senan on electronics. During the night expect extraordinary performances in the vast warehouse-like gallery space of Urban Spree, including a rare live performance from extreme vocalist Tim Exile, a multi-hour ambient jam by Transistors of Mercy, and a sound installation titled ‘Sonic Robots‘ by Moritz Simon Geist, whose robotic sculptures produce noises in combination with live techno. While the basement is taken over by DJs showcasing the labels involved in the market, the Concert Room focuses on bands, live acts and DJs experimenting with the darker side of techno. Constantly reinventing himself as a musician, T.Raumschmiere joins forces with 21 Downbeat – an electronic band including several artists with disabilities determined to ignore genre boundaries to arrive at their own explorative take on electronic music. Thomas P. Heckmann (OFFICIAL)plays one of his EBM-fueled techno sets in between AJA‘s psychosexual rhythmic noise and the incredible punk-techno duo COAL.

WALLS

For their first show of 2020, Urban Spree Galerie presents « WALLS », a collective exhibition featuring 30 international artists and dedicated to the notion of the « wall ».

Curated by Fabrice Douar and Cyrille Gouyette (Le Louvre Museum, Paris) and co-curated by Pascal Feucher (Urban Spree Galerie, Berlin), « WALLS » invites prominent artists from both the comics scene and the street art scene to create graphic works of fiction related to walls, interpreted either as simple architectural elements, ominous symbols of segregation, canvases and vessels to convey meaning, textures, or imaginary playgrounds and labyrinths.

While some antique artefacts appear in the show to testify of their immortal, silent presence, in the 21st Century, the Minotaur doesn’t wait at the center of his realm but has clearly moved outside, demultiplied its presence, and is building more walls.

The exhibition’s direction is therefore resolutely multifaceted, contemporary and graphic-oriented, spanning several topographies (Europe, South Korea, Middle East, Hong Kong, Cuba…), and art forms (painting, photography, installations, videos).

Dune Messiah live in Berlin

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Dune Messiah (DK) live
[aufnahme + wiedergabe] / Third Coming Records
www.aufnahmeundwiedergabe.de/momentsofblisslp

Copenhagen folk-noir artist Dune Messiah unfolds a universe of dark romance. Through emotional lyrics, songwriter Magnus Westergaard examines the shadows of existence, while a boundary-seeking instrumentation oscillates between the violent and the fragile.

Dark and mature Dune Messiah zones in on the sound of naked sincerity. Honest musical tales of love, loss and mysticism, drawing on sources of inspiration such as Leonard Cohen, Death in June and Nick Cave. On stage, Dune Messiah is an intense experience provided by drummer Lee Thomas, guitarist Andreas Bengtsen and keyboardist Lisa Jespersen, while Magnus Westergaard presents the catchy tunes on acoustic guitar and vocals.

In 2019 Dune Messiah released his second studio album ‘Moments of Bliss’ on French Third Coming Records and German aufnhame + wiedergabe. In this regard he has been on a long tour through Europ and the first single ‘Silence and Surrender’ was played extensively on national radio, where Magnus Westergaard was also interviewed. At the start of 2020, Dune Messiah will take on another tour leading them through England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Denmark.

GOLD „Why Aren’t You Laughing?“ Tour

GOLD ( + special guest: Nordra )
25.04.2019 Berlin – Urban Spree
Einlass: 20:00 Uhr, Beginn: 21:00 Uhr
Tickets: https://bit.ly/2V2rWEn
