Kollaps / Espectra Negra / Mala Herba live in Berlin

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Kollaps live
AUS / Cold Spring
www.kollaps-noise.bandcamp.com

“Australian post-industrialists Kollaps are a three piece creating a unique brand of primitive noise “intended for degenerates and outsiders”. The bands’ distinctive primordial tones are created using appropriated waste materials like scrap metal, raw plastics and steel plates combined with blistering percussion, bass and vocals. This is no empty “industrial” gesture, for the band this process of creation facilitates the literal use of postmodern society against itself.”

Espectra Negra live
MEX / Instruments of Discipline

https://www.espectranegraberlin.com/

www.espectranegra.bandcamp.com

“Born in Mexico City she is one of the most powerful projects based in Berlin. Influenced by Industrial, Noise and Ritualistic Music she produces her own transgressive works using analog and digital machinery, dark and political written text, extreme vocals, and consequent Musique Concrète techniques. She works as dark music producer, body art performer and DJ.”

Mala Herba live
POL
www.malaherba.bandcamp.com

“Mala Herba is a solo project of a sound artist and queer music activist Zosia Hołubowska. Based on traditional music, magic and demonology of Eastern Europe, Mala Herba explores queerness and sex-positivity. Powerful, witchy vocals are weaved into hypnotic beats, cold base lines and romantic synthesizer melodies. There’s something gothic and dramatic to it but nevertheless “this” makes you dance.”

Kirin J Callinan

Kirin J Callinan
+ Support: Faux Real

Return To Center is Kirin J Callinan’s new record, a reconnection with what made him fall in love with music over and over throughout the years, and a very personal exploration of the timeless songwriting tradition passed down and reinterpreted from one generation to the next. Following two albums of inimitable, challenging pop music that garnered global acclaim and marked Callinan as entirely unique, a singular talent, nominations for the Australian Music Prize, support slots for everyone from Crowded House to Tame Impala, a role acting in Jane Campion’s Top Of The Lake and an ARIA Award Nomination, ironically it was singing other peoples’ songs

that felt like the most truthful next step for the swashbuckling Sydney artist.

On Return To Center Callinan’s trademark flamboyance is cut with a newfound fragility that comes curled up in an attempt to do justice to the songs he holds nearest and dearest.
Return To Center collects Callinan reworks of both all-time favourites and last-minute spontaneous additions, songs that have shaped the artist he is today amongst songs that were jammed out of the blue in the studio. Callinan sounds all too in step with Laibach’s teutonic march “Life Is Life”, before completely transforming the twitchy Prince-lite of Momus’ “The Homosexual” into lithe, tender acoustic folk. The Waterboys’ “Whole Of The Moon” is rendered even more melodramatic and heart wrenching than the original and comes off like the theme song to the greatest 80s sitcom you never saw, while Randy Newman’s “Pretty Boy” sticks largely faithful to the sombre original, and Public Image Limited’s “Rise” ascends amidst Celtic guitars and television news clips. At the chronological and spiritual center of the record – the eye of the storm – lies the title track and sole original composition. A stark, spacious
instrumental, “Return To Center’s serenity is interrupted by maniacal laughter, assumedly Callinan’s.

Recording was swift – tracking a song per day, with a few up the sleeve for overdubs, mixing and mastering. With a lengthy list of prior collaborators that has included Mark Ronson, Jimmy Barnes, Mac Demarco, Weyes Blood, Connan Mockasin and Alex
Cameron to name a few, the open (garage) door policy was maintained for Return To Center. First luminary to lift the shutters was producer Francois Tetaz whose zeitgeist work with Gotye is legendary. More than a producer to this project, Francois’ enthusiasm to work with Kirin is in the DNA off his concept. A cast of outlaws followed that included Drew Erickson, Benji Lysaght, Stella Mozgawa, Dave Elitch, Jasper Leek and Holiday Sidewinder, gathered in the garage
of his temporary Silverlake abode, delighting in the perverse subversion of the capitalist system and the challenge of completing a record with such clear time and financial constraints. With the roller door open to the street just weeks before he was due to be evicted, they merrily blasted through the set with no time to second guess or overthink and as a result, Return To Center retains an instinctive, vulnerable edge,
emerging as Callinan’s most tender yet celebratory record yet.

Return To Center glimmers with what Callinan describes as a“corporate spiritual” radiance. It is a punk rock meditation on record making, music past and present. For Callinan it slices through a contradictory and confusing year of exaggerations and misrepresentations to be his ‘Return to Center’ – sounds, songs, lyrics, performance. Whatever it is and however it was made, Return To Center transcends to a triumph.

TÜSN “Willkommen in Trendelburg” Tour

10.05.2019 Berlin – Urban Spree
Einlass: 20:00 Uhr, Beginn: 21:00 Uhr

“Kranke Heile Welt”:

Vomito Negro

The band already took off way back in 1982, and over the past years established a name for themselves as uncompromising aural architects, combining power with emotion, electro with vision.
From the start on, flexibility is one of their major qualities.
Vomito Negro is never content with a certain formula: their musical approach, essentially based on the European “Industrialist” tradition of the early eighties, takes a different angle with every record.
Tracing back their history through albums as diverse as “Vomito Negro” (their haunting debut from 1985) to “Wake Up” (1992) one hears growth and evolution in Vomito Negro”s varied soundscapes.
Vomito Negro’s synthesized psychodramas range from danceable to contemplative, from instrumental and ambient to voice-ridden and brutal. Live Vomito Negro stands for a never seen punch of electro power, hammering sequences, pumping live percussion, harsh synths, and vocals that will blow your brain out.

Kris Baha

Much time has passed since Kris Baha swapped the parched red earth and searing midday sun of the Australian outback for the brutalist buildings, communist-era apartment blocks and slate-grey skies of East Berlin.
Now firmly embedded in his adopted city, Baha bas become known for a trademark DJ and production style inspired by sun-baked hallucinatory visions and the clandestine, concrete-clad industrial hum of the metropolis after dark.
Just before the end of 2018, Kris Baha released his EP – “In Your Arms”, a record filled with restless melancholy, chopped beats, sinister frequencies and dramatic twists.

Kælan Mikla + Some Ember live

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Kælan Mikla live
[ISL, Artoffact Records / Fabrika Rec]
www.kaelanmikla.bandcamp.com

Icelandic post-punk meets death-synth trio Kælan Mikla returns for the group’s third album, Nótt Eftir Nótt.

Topping a year that catapulted the band onto stages shared with the likes of The Cure and Placebo, Nótt Eftir Nótt is Kælan Mikla at their most confident, and their most deadly. It’s been five years since Margrét Rósa Dóru-Harrysdóttir, Laufey Soffia, and Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir formed the band in Reykjavik, but after several tours and high-profiles stages, as well as two critically-acclaimed albums, Kælan Mikla has brought their A-game in a big way.

Starting off quietly with a creepy, gothed-out ethereal intro, Nótt Eftir Nótt erupts with post-punk brilliance and synthlines that harken back to the bad old days of the Batcave, big hair, and Egyptian-inspired eye-liner. Tracks like the melancholy “Hvernig kemst ég upp?” are wonderfully delightful, while the band goes for the big goth dance number on “Skuggadans,” succeeding with glorious ease. Near the end of Nótt Eftir Nótt, when you’ve already ingested a healthy dose of Diamanda Galas meets The Birthday Party, the title track, produced by popular Icelandic electronic wizard Bang Gang, is basically perfect.

Hot on the heels of shows at Roadburn, Meltdown, and The Cure’s 40th Anniversary, as well as a Fall tour supporting King Dude, Kælan Mikla are set to take their place as one of darkest aural poets on the world stage.

Some Ember live
[US, Third Coming Records]
www.someember.bandcamp.com

SUBMERGING THE SUN, the second LP by Some Ember, is a journal of climatological grief, intimate vulnerability, and transcendental sadness. Self-produced by songwriter Dylan Travis, the record’s sparse arrangements are weighted by bleak ambience and dramatic vocal turns. Icy synthesizers pierce veils of fog-like drones, delivering sorrow and catharsis. Tides of dissonance ebb to reveal glittering mirages of hope, which are just as soon swept away.

Long a fixture of the Oakland, CA musical underground, Some Ember has seen many forms – a solo dream pop bedroom project, a four-piece goth rock outfit, then a hardware-based synth duo, and now a solo performance project once more. Following cassettes on Crash Symbols, Night-People and Ascetic House, the band released their first LP on Dream in 2014. In 2015, Travis and longtime collaborator Nina Chase made the move to Berlin. After a tumultuous two years (which saw a further cassette released on Dream, “DEBTS OF LOVE”), the band will release SUBMERGING THE SUN, as well as a companion cassette EP, SUBMERGED, on Third Coming Records in November 2018.
