Lick&Listen#10 . Adult Films with Live Music

Urban Spree and Fecunda Lab join forces to organice, Lick&Listen: Adult Films with Live Music + Party

Lick&Listen selects silent ethical-adult films.

The silent film era lasted from 1894 to 1929. During the silent film era a pianist, theater organist, or, in large cities, even a small orchestra would often play music to accompany the films.

Fecunda Lab offers the contemporary version of it.

The aim of Lick&Listen is to normalize porn through contemporary screenings of silent alternative erotic films (Queer, Fun, Feminist, Gay, Kinki, or Fetish among others) in public spaces. During silent ethical adult films, musicians will either play improvise or sheet music to accompany the films.

We will enjoy three concerts and after the screen-concert, we said goodbye to the night dancing in a nice and sexy atmosphere.

Get tickets in advance to ensure your entrance: 6.5€
Spare tickets at the door: 8€ / From 22.30: 5€

« underneath DISTEL’s third full length release lies a thorough personal re-evaluation of truth, unveiling and being. ‘wapens’ is the dutch word for ‘weapons’ and also translates to ‘family crests‘ or ‘coats of arms‘. however, a third sense, more specifically related to the kindred word ‘wapenen‘, is explored in the title track’s lyrics which propose a state of being wherein the self becomes an existential monolith – becomes focally reinforced in the sense that its presence refers first and foremost to only its own individual being instead of the networks of meaning that we tend to define ourselves by.
DISTEL’s intention while working on this album was to achieve a more direct, massive and monolithic sound than before: to channel most energy through an insistent impulse within the rhythmic and melodic movement – from stomping stabs to legato motion – and make every other embellishment secondary. this initial thought is the core of the music on this album and an overall synthesised modern classical mode is the guideline for new tracks. another aim is to show more colour, truth and openness – and this openness is obviously echoed in the sound of the album itself. thematically ‘wapens’ includes many references to end times, apocalyptic visions, embodiment and authenticity towards death. while its predecessors presented the ‘muffled sounds from within’, now the pandora‘s box has been opened for all to gaze upon its vast spectrum of horrors.
the self-applied tag ‘ultra / angst pop’ could now be redefined from the original industrial-based minimal electronics into a unique contemporary strain of high energy synth-pop-noir, or ‘dark energy’. a quite evocative mixture of excellent subliminal rhythm machine programming, predominant purging keyboard lines and swirling spectral vocals result in twisted dark wave pieces with a catchy approach carrying an overwhelming, coercive energy. »

« After the highly successful first album ‘Guilt Kollektion’ – sold out almost immediately – here comes the long awaited brand new album by the still young Swedish EBM institution, containing 11 tracks of amazing darknoise and EBM! ALVAR: pulsing, shadows, thrilling rhythms, furious loops and a feeling of total takeover of your soul.
ALVAR from Öland/Sweden, ‘discovered’ by Dirk Ivens (Klinik, Absolute Body Control, Sonar, Dive… & founder of Daft) 2 years ago, making music inspired by deserted places, forgotten houses and old legends. Alvar offer a clash between techno, old school industrial and EBM in a unique combination that makes this fresh new act extraordinary! »

Pankow, Tara in Tibet live // Herzschlag

PANKOW (IT)

Pankow, founded in Florence back in 1981, are one of the very first electronic/industrial acts coming out from Italy. The founding member Maurizio FM Fasolo and his five co-band members at that time created sounds inspired by the likes of Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and early Kraftwerk.

After various line-up changes and the arrival of charismatic lead-singer and poet Alex Spalck, the project started to become noted also abroad and a first live-appearance in Berlin in 1984 marked the start of a long ongoing and successful career for the band.

Following a few cassette-releases and compilation appearances, Kindergarten Records – in collaboration with Polygram – released a first 4-tracks EP in 1984, that included the first more accessible, EBM-Electro-like tracks (even though the term ‘EBM’ was not ‘invented’ by that time…): songs like ‘God’s Deneuve’ and ‘Wodkachaos’ became major hits in Italy. The first LP came in 1987 on Contempo Records, and was produced by Adrian Sherwood.

Since 2016 Pankow started to collaborate with the Canadian label Artoffact by releasing their first official cassette (« Throw out Rite », 1984) and a 10 « vinyl (Times) with the first songs released only in some Italian compilations before and a couple unpublished ones.

The band is currently active and based in France/Belgium with the frontman singer Bram Declercq.

TARA IN TIBET (IT)

Berlin-based Tara in Tibet is a project of Alessio de Felice, co-runner of label She Lost Kontrol records and owner of Last Europa Kiss records.

His perfomances are waving between noise and groovy industrial, with a touch of esoterism.

Highly recommended for fans of occult sex parties, Italian police movies and dirty raw esthetics.

TIQ

TIQ is a minimal-synth party loved and supported by different alternative scenes. DJ-sets are rigid, cold, rough-edge, blind-alley and the drum machine beats always like a metronome. No matter if the sound comes from the past, the present or the future, we are more and more devoted to select the best minimal-synth-wave music, so called « quadratic wave ».

Quadratic-wave is a word game and a concept from sound physics too, but the best way to catch it is to dance it, and the best way to dance it is by being concentrated and confined in a quadrangle as Die Tödlich Doris sang in their song Tanz im Quadrat: « Wir tanzen im Viereck, wir tanzen konzentriert ».

Kælan Mikla + Some Ember live

[aufnahme + wiedergabe] presents:

Kælan Mikla live
[ISL, Artoffact Records / Fabrika Rec]
www.kaelanmikla.bandcamp.com

Icelandic post-punk meets death-synth trio Kælan Mikla returns for the group’s third album, Nótt Eftir Nótt.

Topping a year that catapulted the band onto stages shared with the likes of The Cure and Placebo, Nótt Eftir Nótt is Kælan Mikla at their most confident, and their most deadly. It’s been five years since Margrét Rósa Dóru-Harrysdóttir, Laufey Soffia, and Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir formed the band in Reykjavik, but after several tours and high-profiles stages, as well as two critically-acclaimed albums, Kælan Mikla has brought their A-game in a big way.

Starting off quietly with a creepy, gothed-out ethereal intro, Nótt Eftir Nótt erupts with post-punk brilliance and synthlines that harken back to the bad old days of the Batcave, big hair, and Egyptian-inspired eye-liner. Tracks like the melancholy “Hvernig kemst ég upp?” are wonderfully delightful, while the band goes for the big goth dance number on “Skuggadans,” succeeding with glorious ease. Near the end of Nótt Eftir Nótt, when you’ve already ingested a healthy dose of Diamanda Galas meets The Birthday Party, the title track, produced by popular Icelandic electronic wizard Bang Gang, is basically perfect.

Hot on the heels of shows at Roadburn, Meltdown, and The Cure’s 40th Anniversary, as well as a Fall tour supporting King Dude, Kælan Mikla are set to take their place as one of darkest aural poets on the world stage.

Some Ember live
[US, Third Coming Records]
www.someember.bandcamp.com

SUBMERGING THE SUN, the second LP by Some Ember, is a journal of climatological grief, intimate vulnerability, and transcendental sadness. Self-produced by songwriter Dylan Travis, the record’s sparse arrangements are weighted by bleak ambience and dramatic vocal turns. Icy synthesizers pierce veils of fog-like drones, delivering sorrow and catharsis. Tides of dissonance ebb to reveal glittering mirages of hope, which are just as soon swept away.

Long a fixture of the Oakland, CA musical underground, Some Ember has seen many forms – a solo dream pop bedroom project, a four-piece goth rock outfit, then a hardware-based synth duo, and now a solo performance project once more. Following cassettes on Crash Symbols, Night-People and Ascetic House, the band released their first LP on Dream in 2014. In 2015, Travis and longtime collaborator Nina Chase made the move to Berlin. After a tumultuous two years (which saw a further cassette released on Dream, “DEBTS OF LOVE”), the band will release SUBMERGING THE SUN, as well as a companion cassette EP, SUBMERGED, on Third Coming Records in November 2018.

Blind Delon, H ø R D, Leere live + after party Herzschlag

BLIND DELON

Founded in 2016 by Mathis Kolkoz and after releasing several works on Oráculo Records / Bordello A Parigi and some DJ sets around Europe, Blind Delon raised to a multi-art project (3 musicians and a visual composition by the french artist AFB).

With their heads and bags filled with synthesizers from a time they weren’t even born, the band can be found today between a record shop and a cave rave, looking for an aesthetic that is nowhere near dying. Post-Synthwave might be the best words to qualify the project, as the music is a sort of breed between outrageous Pop and cold basslines.

Building a bridge between Pop and Rave music, Blind Delon is making a NOT conventional yet romantic Post-Punk sound.

H ø R D

H ø r d creates electronic music inspired by coldwave, soundtracks, fantasy movies, oscillating between epic compositions, EBM and techno pulse, and also more contemplative tracks.

After performances on his own musical territory, he gradually came to the European synth wave scene, signing a remix for Winter Severity Index (Rome) and performing live in Germany (Wave Gotik Treffen), Belgium, Czech Republic, Swiss, Malta, Italia, Austria, Spain.

His first album « Focus on light » was released 2016 on Anton Maiiovi’s label Giallo Disco Records, and sold out 6 weeks later.
In 2017, his third EP «Futures» is out on Sacred Court, label of electronic artist SNTS.

His upcoming second LP will be out in Avant! Records in September, 2018.

«The label Giallo Disco Records have described the music as “Reverb-Soaked Urban-Gothic Melancholic songs, between synth-shoegaze and violent EBM,” and believe the album will “will resonate strongly with fans of Pornography-era The Cure, Joy Division and classic Nine Inch Nails.” To our ears we hear strains of early Tropic of Cancer and dare we say Pet Shop Boys, and overall, as you’ll be able to tell from the album preview below, it’s a well informed reincarnation of what makes the synth, minimal and no wave genres so appealing today.» JUNO DOWNLOAD (2016)

LEERE

We come from nowhere and move towards emptiness.
Leere is an introvert musical project, trying to express and fill the emptiness inside us. The use of analog and digital sounds of the 80s and the integration of sounds from Berlin, the city that influences her and her music strongly, helps her with that hard task.
